Updated Review- Please Read! I have happily been a black card member at this location for 2 years and had previously left a glowing 5 star review encouraging others to join up. But my recent experiences have changed this, and I hope by sharing them others can make a more informed decision on which gym to belong to! Around June of this year, I started receiving 2 push notifications daily through the Planet Fitness app for various random offers (essentially spam). When I dug into the app I discovered a number of permissions access I was not comfortable giving PF, including location tracking data and more. So for the past few months I have happily been giving my phone number as instructed instead of using the app to check in. However, recently I was informed going forward I will need the app in order to continue using the gym. I was told straight up - "If you don't have a smartphone you can't belong to this gym." Planet Fitness informed me they would rather lose me as a customer instead of continuing to have me check in without the app. That's one important app! And the kicker on this devalued customer cake? As this is being explained to me, 2 different members walk up and check in without using the app. And a third member walked by without checking in at all! So these rules seem to be haphazardly applied on a member to member basis. So I downgraded my membership from black card to basic while I look at other options. I will also encourage my friends/family to look at other gyms as well!

Hillsborough PF is my favorite gym. The facility is well appointed, always clean, and you are greeted by cheerful staff every time.
