satan’s maw
I called about a starving cat and I got the patronizing brush off. I don’t want to see the cat die. The animal is owned by a crazy person who won’t or can’t take care of it. Animal Welfare said, “They don’t want to get involved.” I guess I’ll try the state of Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s Animal Control Division. Maybe they can help. Daws didn’t want to listen.

Very nice and caring people. Definitely care about finding the right home for each pet. My friend is going to be getting her forever dog in the next day or so. Cannot wait, he is such a love

They helped me get the cat I wanted and I'm so in love with her! I really recommend this place.

Yes
We are undergoing a shelter renovation right now and operating out of a temporary facility in Newtown, CT.
No, I'm sorry. We only specialize with cats and dogs.
No, sorry we dont,
Thanks for asking but right now we can’t take used. We appreciate you thinking of DAWS though. Thanks.
They have beautiful dogs in all sizes! ❤️
Yes you need to make an appointment. Especially because of COVID and sometimes you can call them to make sure whether the animal you wanna see is available or not.
Hi Lew, we really are only taking new blankets and towels right now. But if you've already dropped the blankets we will take care of them!
If you know who the owners are, then return the dog to the owner or call them as you said you have their phone number. Imagine someone sending your dog to the pound, knowing it belongs to you, because they were too inconvenienced to call you. Dogs aren't just animals you send off because you're inconvenienced, they're in more cases than not a member of the family. If you're actually concerned for the animal, make sure it gets returned home and not sent off to the pound.
The adoption fee for cats is $150 spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
Hi Cassandra - would your mom or dad be able to accompany you for a bit? We really don't allow anyone under 18 to volunteer on their own with the cats or dogs.
Dogs are $350 fully vetted, puppies are $400, also fully vetted. I am not sure if we have a chi mix currently at the shelter but we get them often so keep a look at our website daws.org or petfinder. Thanks!
The adoption fee for a dog is $350 and $400 for puppies. 🐶
We are always in need of additional volunteers. Check the DAWS website for future volunteer orientation dates. Thank you!
You must complete an application and verify your references in your veterinary records.
Our clinic is not open again until Monday.
No, call the shelter Monday to get pricing - 203-744-3297.

We currently have a dog AND a cat named Bailey. Who are you referring to?
Bailey, the cat, and Amos, the dog, have been there the longest.
Yes you can call them. They would be happy to have your help!
Hi Larissa, I am the new Operations Manager at DAWS and I know we have this issue to resolve. In the meantime, how can I help?
They don't accept incoming from the street, as it's a health and safety concern... However local animal control can help....
Just show up there!
No. Fortunately the rescue organization is able to take care of the spaying/neutering and the first sets of vaccines. Those peocedures cost them money, so they do charge an adoption fee.
Always different. You have to check their website.
It is non profit so I assume all of it.
