Hi Steven, It's a giant redwood, harvested by the Arcata Redwood Company in 1958 from Orick, California. The story goes it had multiple stops on the rail line over here for various fairs and exhibitions. We have some pictures in our office of it being measured and felled, and of its acceptance in North Haven by National's founders, Anthony Papa and George Montano. The tree was over 275 feet tall, while the log is only 24 feet. It's about 10 feet in diameter (though it continues to shrink as it dries), and weighs in at over 74,000 pounds!

Our pricing is generally competitive with the large home centers, but our quality is where we really shine. Because we generally serve fewer homeowners and almost 90% of our business is delivery, we have fewer people picking through our units of lumber looking for the best pieces - So we have fewer prior selections. This means that you'll have fewer cull pieces on large deliveries. Our moulding and interior doors are another place where National Lumber has a competitive advantage. We order large quantities of trim, getting a truck every day. If you place a non stock order for trim prior to 12:00PM, we'll have it here the next morning ready for pickup or delivery to your site. We are also one of the few lumberyards the northeast to run our own prehung door shop, meaning we get direct trailer loads of Masonite brand door slabs every month and hang them in house. By manufacturing our own doors, we're able to pass along the savings in manufacturing to our customers. Thank you!
