All I have to say is this place picks up the slack for all the other help that is supposedly available. Children's hospital is a joke and has left me to deal with a child with mental health issues on my own. Huckleberry has been a resource I've had to use 3 times now and each time they were able to give me the head space to find the proper care for my child who is need of great help. Thank you!

Hi Monica, I am so sorry to hear that you lost your job and are experiencing health issues. Our crisis program serves youth between the ages of 12-17 years old. If you are between those ages, you can defintely come stay at our shelter. Youth can access our shelter 24/7. If you are having trouble getting here, you can go to any Fire Station, Donato's, Columbus Public Library, or White Castle, tell the manager you want to go to Huck House, and we will provide transportation. If you are over 18, I would recommend that you reach out to our CARR (Coordinated Access & Rapid Resolution) team at 614-826-3630. Our CARR team's primary job is to link young people ages 18-24 with housing. They can help you explore all of the different housing options in Franklin County including our Transitional Living Program. If you are over the age of 18 and need immediate shelter, you can access the adult shelters via the homeless hotline - 614-274-7000. Take care.

Thanks for reaching out, Edith. There is an organization in Cincinnati called Lighthouse Youth and Family Services that offers services similar to Huck House. Below is the link to their website so that you can learn more. I am sure that even if their services don't match your needs, that they would be able to point you in the right direction if you reach out to them. Best of luck. https://www.lys.org/services/

Yes
Depends on your age, but generally yes
That is a question to talk to staff about. There is a phone for you to utilize while here.
I'm neighbors and friends with the organization. One, if a joke, doesn't help.... Two, they get meals and snacks. So, question your friend. They may not always have to eat what she wants.... tough, grow up, work, go to school, and buy her own meals. And your the worst. These people help where no one else will. If it's such a concern, YOU buy her food, take her in, provide resources to better herself. Please, really.
