This is a very clean, well kept rest area located in Interstate 5. It features restrooms, amole parking and lots of room to stretch your legs. It also has picnic tables of your want to stop and eat. It's a great place to stop regardless of whether you're heading down until the valley from the mountains or up into the passes from the valley. We've stopped here many times, including time to rest and take a nap, and it's always been a good experience here.

Nice place to stop. Plenty of area for your dog or cat. Sorry the lake is way down only dry ground showing.

This was a nice stop in the Mountains and was clean. Easy to get on and off. Plenty of tables for eating a meal.

O'Brian Safety Roadside Rest Area is a beautiful little oasis along Northbound Interstate 5 in Northern California along Lake Shasta north or Redding California. The rest area has just undergone a lengthy renovation, and the restrooms are clean and new. The rest area has picnic tables, walking paths, and a safe area to look down to one of the arms of Lake Shasta. There is ample parking and easy access to Interstate 5. A pet exercise area is available for your furry friends. If you find my review helpful, please give me a thumbs-up 👍 Thank you!

Also is this before the mountains I'd rather not drive-through at night

This is on the northbound side in the Shasta Trinity forrest. You can view a portion of the lake from there. Stop in Redding if you dont want to drive over the mountains at night.

You can park in a spot for 8 hours maximum. Technically not "legal" to sleep in your rig, but many do if just passing through.

The rest areas don't have exit numbers (only streets, or other HWY, etc) Watch mile markers, this rest area is between Mile Markers 692 and 695 AND Use GPS Lon = -122.31876 Lat = 40.79424

I was just there now and it looks beautiful. So there was no long term damage.
