I've been here a couple times but after my last visit I won't be going back. I was served by an older white man and after I paid for my lane he asked to check my ammo. Indoor ranges make a big deal about no steel core and I was shooting 7.62x39 that day that I absolutely know is lead core (I even brought the box and a cut bullet). He held a magnet to it and said "can't shoot this! It's steel core!", "It's not. It's lead with a bimetallic jacket", I handed the cut bullet to him and he held the magnet to it again. "The magnet means it's steel core!". I clearly wasn't going to win and I drove an hour to get there and I was determined to shoot. I asked if he had any ammo in stock and he said "$29 for a box of 20". A $1.45 per round when this ammo at the time of this post is at 40cpr. I reluctantly said yes (again because I really wanted to shoot) and when he scanned it the box was actually $21 for 20. "Your total is $54", "Wait, what do you mean? I already paid for my lane literally 2 minutes ago. I have the receipt right here", "Oh, you paid didn't you?" Whatever. Maybe he's got an awful memory. He then asks to unload all my magazines with this supposedly steel core ammo. I ask him if it's alright if I go unload by the couches over to the side and he agrees. Two minutes later he asks me to unload right in front of him as the register. Clearly he didn't trust me to leave his sight. I was polite the entire time and unloaded as requested into the paper bag he wanted. I even showed him my empty magazines. The entire time he was snapping at me and it felt like a traffic stop and not a visit to the range. I felt he didn't trust me and was trying to fleece me earlier. After I went in my staple gun wasn't working and I looked for an RSO. He had his back to the range and was writing on paper helping a first time female shooter learn to shoot. He was over there for at least 5 minutes and wasn't paying attention to anybody else. Completely unsafe. I'm a minority, look pretty young, a local, and active duty military and this place is awful. They don't know the difference between steel core, bimetallic jacket, and I doubt the staff would have treated me any different if I told him I'm active duty. Don't waste your time, money, or energy and drive just a little further and go to Elite in Manassas instead. The facility is nicer and staff don't treat you like trash.

Underwhelming as the NRA HQ. Went with a group of 8. They insisted we had to share 2 lanes (due to being busy). Manager stated we should have called ahead- but per the website they do not take reservations. Would have been willing to wait for a 3rd lane. Pro Tip: If you come with a group- don’t tell them you’re all together. (To avoid overcrowding on lanes) Range is clean, female range officer was friendly. No Military/LE discounts on day fee, no photography on range. Overpriced for the value received.

Melissa, we are open with modified hours as listed on Google, our webpage and Facebook. We are following all mandates and requirements.
Hi Gavin, I'm the new Range Manager. I don't see when your question was posted, but it is still a valid question. No, you don't have to take classes before you shoot at the NRA Range. On your first visit, we'll have you fill out a short application for a Range Card and take a short safety quiz based on a sheet of rules we give you. With that said, we always recommend continuing training. Professional guidance helps you to become a safer/better shooter more quickly, which usually makes shooting more enjoyable. Our Range Officers will do their best to make sure that you are safe on the lanes and can often offer you a tip or pointer or two for improving your skills.
Hello Oussama. I am the new Range Manager. I don't know when your question was posted, but yours is always a good question. There is a one-time $10 fee for the application process for your Range Card. Then, we charge NRA Members $15 for the hour on the lane, and non-NRA-members $25 for the hour on the lane. Note that we charge on a per person basis rather than a per lane basis. For example, if two people come together, we charge each of them the appropriate lane fee regardless of whether they shoot on the same lane or on separate lanes.
Absolutely! We do not carry pellets however so please bring everything you need to shoot! Thank you and we look forward to having you in at the Range!
We do not. All of our customers must provide their own firearms. Let me know if you have any other questions or you can consult our webpage FAQS page for reference. Thank you!
Hi John and Kathy! Fridays are 9a-9p and Mondays are 9a-6p. The hours vary by the day of the week so please use the hours listed on Google for reference. We will be open the day after Thanksgiving! Mondays are typically lesser volume days so you'd most likely not have much if any wait time. See you soon and Happy Thanksgiving!
According to the Firearms Owners Protection Act. You can transport a firearm between states as long as it's legal in the state you're transporting it to. If the state you're coming from or going to, does not allow the carrying of firearms, then without a carry permit (Maryland rarely issues them) then you must carry the firearm in a seperate case from your ammo and the firearm must be unloaded and in a locked container.
Yes Ma'am. Our hours listed on Google are correct. Every Saturday we are open 9a-9p.
We are! We have modified up lic hours for the time being which is listed on Google, Facebook and our website!
There are no gun licenses in VA. They do not rent firearms, you have to bring your own.
Yes you need to bring your own guns.
Not relevant to using the range. You need to do a simple safety test to get your range card, after that you can shoot. You show your card, pay the hourly fee and shoot.
Mon, Wed, Thu after 1PM. Sat 830AM when they open.
No but members get a better rate. Short safety exam and $10 gets card. Range is well lit and well kept!
Only cleaning stuff, safety equipment, targets, and ammo. No firearms or firearm accessories.
Yes. I have a pneumatic pistol that I sometimes practice with before switching to a target gun. You can bring your own 10 meter targets (or any others) and use them. Also, the target carriers can be set for meters. You can put in 10 meters very easily. You can select any distance up to 50 yards, or equivalent meters. They supply ear and eye protection, but it is an indoor range, so you might want to use ear plugs under the ear muffs as well. The range is clean, orderly and very professionally run. The range officers are very helpful. I highly recommend it. They have plenty of parking. But, on weekends, with cold weather, people want to shoot indoors, so there may be a wait. Call ahead with any questions. When you arrive, you will need to to fill in a range orientation form/test. The answers are all provided, so it helps you act safety and properly on the range. Takes about 20 minutes.
You can bring your own or purchase there, but steel-core ammo is not allowed.
Under 18, you have to be with an adult to shoot.
A legal minor has to be accompanied by an adult, i believe a family member/ legal guardian. You should call the range ro maje certain. They are very geloful.
It's a live fire range and the fees depend on whether or mot you're a member or not and how much time you spend there
15 bucks for an hour, if it's busy. If there's no one waiting, they don't kick you out, really.
Yes they do. They have rifle block you can set on their tables and chair to sit in. Additionally you can lie down in a prone position if you want to do that.
They do not rent guns at the NRA range.
You can carry in the building as long as the gun is holstered
8am to 7pm
They are the same daily. Sunrise to sunset
Not sure about archery classes but yes ,they do help people who just got a gun in how to handle and use it properly .
Google NRA shooting range. Ten$ each for the first time open book test, and 40$ for 2 lanes, or 35$ if you share a lane. Good range.
