I just called to see what volunteer options they had available. I was made aware that they are in the process of bringing this facility to a new standard of care that was not met under the old staff and organization. Old reviews and experiences should not be a representation of what to expect. The man who answered the phone was very kind and filled me in on what’s to come! Check out their Facebook for volunteer opportunities to come in the next few weeks!

Spoke with Scott 3/4/19 after I left 8 voicemails (+ 2x voice mailbox full). I asked him why it took 8 messages to get a return phone call. If I wanted to adopt the opportunity would have been lost. Like the flip of a switch Scott immediately got aggressive, belligerent, attacking with profanity flying out of his mouth. He stated “you are a fu...ing bit...h”...”who are you working for u sad bit..h”.... The guy doesn’t know me nor have I ever met him. His response to a reasonable ‘why 8 vms to get a return call’...’including paranoia tells me there is a lot going on and unseen by the public eye. Primarily bc he runs the AWS like a fortress wherein “visits only by appt”, high fenses with ALWAYS locked gate & telephone messages disregarded time & time again. I can speak/protect myself from small minded actions & behavior from the likes of him. The vulnerable animals in his care cannot! The boy should be ashamed...on sooo many levels.

I believe you have to be 18 years or older to volunteer at the shelter.
Hi Robin, We don't sell animals. We do have quite of few bunnies available for adoption. The adoption process includes coming to meet the bunnies, completing an adoption application and onsite interview. Lastly, we will bring the bunny and complete a home visit. If all goes well, we will finalize the adoption and help the bunny get set up in his/her new home. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Yes, all animals old or young are welcome.
Great place. I usually volunteer on Saturdays. But I've been injured that last couple of weeks. I fell at home fractured 3 ribs hope to make it this Saturday.
Sorry, I don't agree with your answer Kearstin. I did come by but I was greeted by a gentleman who told me to call and make an appointment.
They do not clean teeth. They do not perform veterinary or grooming services. It is a shelter for animals. They have cays, dogs, pigs, chickens. They take excellent care of their residents. Julie is the woman who runs the place and is really busy so sometimes she is slow to get back to people. You may have to try a couple times. I just got a cat fom there. This is the healthiest cat I have ever adopted. She did a flea dip before delivering him. No ear mites, no worms, nothing. All issues i have had with adopting shelter kitties before. There are some gorgeous cats. But don't forget about the shy ones. The ones you may not see because they hide. They turn out to be loving cats, too. My Goergie (Oscar at the AWS) is one.
