This large, peaceful park on the edge of Lake Apopka (Florida's 4th largest lake) is about a 25-to-30-minute drive from downtown Orlando on a quiet weekend. I love the mature canopy of trees, the wide green spaces, the tranquil vibe, and the new infrastructure just built by Orange County.

My kids love this park, just needs more swings

I thought they would never get finished with this project, It was one of my favorite places in the area to watch sunsets over the water. I was really impressed with what they created, it was so well thought out and complementary to the local environment; worth the wait with a huge parking area and huge new restroom area. They left the picnic pavilion and the little white archway down by the waterfront but created a wonderful walkway out over the water near the pavilion with a dock and multiple boat slips - an incredible view of the whole lake. The huge new playground area is mostly under cover, and I didn’t make it into the Eco info center yet, next trip. I went back the next evening to check out the reopened boat ramp area, because typical Florida evenings at this time of year are hit or miss for great sunsets due to the rain, looks like they added a new dock area and there is a shaded picnic area to the side. The drive down and the parking lot is newly repaved with a dozen boat parking spots. Despite the rain overhead, in the distance, I caught the gem of a sunset I was waiting for. This side of the park is across the street from the campground, and catch the Lake Apopka Loop Trail that goes through and the drivable Lake Apopka Wildlife Trail is not far away. Definitely worth the wait, and despite the rain I got my sunset. I feel a bit safer now being over top of the water and not just at the edge. Always remember this is a natural environment and wildlife including gators can be ever present.

Yes

There are two sides, yes. The peacocks are usually found on the campground side. The bike trail starts off on the lakeside
It's open to the public but I don't know if you can swim
Thank you both for your anwsers. I will go there in the next couple of days 👍
Not yet..
Construction is not done. I was there today.
There is a check in office just after the park entrance . They should have all the answers you need
They have grills at the park, but not sure if they allow propane tanks, there's someone doing rounds checking all day at the park. Might want to call ahead just in case.
Still down
If the park is closed now, that is very recent, and was most likely done in response to the county order to wear face masks in all public venues. I would guess that it will open again once that order had been rescinded.
They are closed for clean up should re open tomorrow or Sunday
I believe it is 8 pm
Yes but they have to be on a leash at all times, last time I checked. I would just call and verify.
Yes, you will need to call the park. It's a first come basis.
Didn't notice any gates. Didn't see any bear's or sings for them either, but it does have Peacocks extremely beautiful I must say,, there is a sign for them. We loved the park tho.
Yes it has a dock if you want to fish with a Boat or you can fish from the lake.
Not as I know of... first come first serve.
No
Yes you can go walking and the entrance is free
$18.00 Orange County residents. $23.00 non resident. You can stay 14 consecutive days and dogs are allowed. We last visited in Oct. and the trails were closed due to hurricane damage. It is a beautiful park with plenty to do for families. Site capacity is 6 people.
I would call to see if you can get a permit.
Can u just go for a walk there or jogging?
Yes the entire park is easily accessible to wheelchairs. September is a great month to see butterflies and the garden is full of them. We saw swallowtails, zebras and several yellow or white varieties less than 2 weeks ago and they should still be going strong.
