These falls are obviously stunning. There were a lot of people, and by the pictures you can see that some of them were climbing on the rocks. Not sure if that is the best idea, but to each their own. I still highly recommend visiting these falls if you are in the area. The sight is just too incredible to miss! π€©π

This was a simple hike for any age. Alot of stairs, but once up you have a easy trail to follow that leads straight to this beautiful waterfall. This was hands down one of my favorite views.

Beautiful falls, short but very steep stairs - I live on a steep hill and average 25,000 steps a day, but stairs are hard for me . I saw people of all ages and abilities do it though, and everyone was glad they did. It was fairly crowded but parking was easy and the ride to was gorgeous as well. I would imagine after a rain it would be INSANELY flowing; when I went it hadnβt rained in a while and it was still magnificent.

We LOVED this waterfall. We had no idea how big it actually was until we saw it ..π³. Fantastic! The steps up to it definitely made you wonder if you would ever get there..but totally worth it!!

Yes. There were multiple dogs there when we visited. It is not monitored by anyone to turn you away regardless.
Very accessible, short walk, beautiful place to stay admiring mother nature
Sneakers will do fine. There are some wet spots on the short trail, just be careful.
No fee area. Park at base of stairs, follow all the way up to trail.. keep going it ends at bridge where waterfall is.
The 2017Β season runs from June 3Β to August 19.
All of these answers are correct, 160 steps and rugged terrain
Normal hours no restrictions portapottys was terrible tho
No, too many trees to see sunrise or sunset from the falls.
The trail is almost entirely a staircase, and you have to pick your way across a rocky area as well before reaching the waterfall.
It's not a great distance from the parking lot to the falls, but you do have to climb lots of stairs to get there. It could be strenuous if you have to carry a child up the steps. I would guess it is about 1/4 mile one way to the falls
It's not a matter of being allowed to swim, there isn't a place to swim. The falls don't have a pool. However, you can climb rocks and wade through the falls and the stream without any issues.
There is a part you can hike down to, just below the falls, with the ropes that are there. You can follow it down the river a little bit. And get a view of the double falls. But it's a little advanced, if your not a rock climber.
Saw a couple get married there about 15 yrs. ago. Private, intimate ceremony obviously
24/7..if you're brave
According to All Trails, yes dogs are allowed on the trail. Do not listen to the person recommending leaving the dog in the car with the windows cracked. It doesnβt take long in the summer for that to kill your dog. As far as the rest of the people saying no they attract bears, that is the stupidest thing Iβve ever heard. We take our dog on every trail we hike.
It's actually right outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it is on the Cherokee Reservation. From Oconaluftee Visitor Center, drive south (toward Cherokee) on US-441 and take the second left onto Big Cove Road. At the first stop sign turn left and drive 4.5 miles to Mingo Falls Campground, where the trail begins.
