If all you have is general household recycling, cans, bottles, cardboard, etc, it is a smooth process to drop it off right by the entrance to the left.

When we came to Durham’s Waste Disposal and Recycling center, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. And it was very obvious. Seeing that we were confused, Jonathan Anderson was kind and helpful and directed us to the correct area. We are so grateful for compassionate workers like him who do their job with a smile and care.

They would dispose of it like regular metal. Depending on your vehicle, you'd be charged the flat rate for residential (check the website for pricing). I'd recommend an "e-cycling" place if you're JUST throwing away tech. There's one not too far away on Western Bypass.
Yes we take yardwaste, but mind you that trees and thick branches will have to be cut under 4ft lengths. No trash can be mixed in with any yardwaste. Fees apply.

You shouldn't have to pay. Just drive through the gate on your left when you enter the facility then ask any of the on site team which container is for recycling and you can proceed with disposal of your cardboard.
I recently had to recycle some cardboard and I didn't have to pay.
