Nice venue, even has box seats, easy in and out, convenient parking, good acoustics. Now the meh. Seats, fine for small people and leg room like a sports car, there is none. Price, hard to justify the cost, $3.50 bottled water all way up to$11 for a 24oz beer, and the tickets, yikes. Seats in nose bleed section have low ceilings and it got a little hot up there. Still great for special occasions...

My support for The Carolina Theatre has completely disappeared after learning that the CEO is pushing back against developers trying to replace a PARKING garage with a residential tower. Downtown Durham needs more foot traffic and guess what CEO...a PARKING GARAGE generates nothing of interest. A residential tower sure would though! There is an ABUNDANCE of parking in downtown Durham- trust me, no one is going to stop going to shows here because of parking. However...I will stop now that I've read this snippet in WRAL. I'll spread the word as well. Nonsense.

Lots! M kokko, pie pishers, luna empanadas, and many more!
Sometimes. The films tab on our website has all pertinent screening information. http://www.carolinatheatre.org/films
There's a deck right across the street on Morgan and now, around the corner from it, the brand new one is now open. Can cut through the Morgan deck to get to Theatre.
No firearms or weapons of any kind allowed. http://www.carolinatheatre.org/about/security-policy
They are together. Many older theatres split their seating into "left" and "right" sections, assigning odd numbers to one side and even numbers to the other. We were built in 1926 .
Each live event and film may be priced differently than another. Please consult our website -- carolinatheatre.org -- for prices.
Hi Wanda, The closest parking deck is just across the street from the theater at the Durham Centre Parking Garage. Special event parking is $7. There are also several other parking decks in the area https://carolinatheatre.org/visit/directions/
Of course! You can sign up on our website (at the bottom in the teal section). Afterwards, you'll receive an email asking you to subscribe to any emails you're interested in. We send a weekly live event email every Tuesday. https://carolinatheatre.org/
Hi Christy, unless you requested a refund, your tickets are still valid for the new show. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to our box office at (919) 560-3030.
Film screening times can normally be found on the venue website (carolinatheatre.org). We currently aren't screening any films for in-person viewing and don't expect to start until late July. All the films listed on our website are for virtual/at-home viewing.
There are four hotels within two blocks, including the Marriott City Center next door, The Durham, 21 C and Unscripted. There are several others within two miles. All are excellent and clean.
Call the office at Carolina Theatre and talk to Management. They respond pretty quickly! Leave question and phone# if no answer. They will respond!
We have beer, wine, hard seltzer and occasionally ciders. We do not have a permit to sell spirits/mixed drinks.
I don't know. Maybe check their website 🙄
There is no defined dress code at our venue. Casual/informal is fine
All of this information is available at our website at this link, under the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) tab: http://www.carolinatheatre.org/events/arts-discovery-series Most Arts Discovery performances are 60 minutes. Please arrive 45 minutes before show time.
We don't have plans to screen the film at this time. We attempted to book it in advance of Mr. Crosby's show but our cinema schedule didn't align with the dates given by the film's distributor.
Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (919) 560-3030
We have leather-covered seats in the cinemas. Those seats do recline, but they aren't traditional living-room style recliners. We don't have any reclining seats in Fletcher Hall.
It depends on the film. First-run film tickets cost $10. Retro double-features are two films for $9.50. MovieDiva and Cinema Overdrive films are $7. http://www.carolinatheatre.org/films
We do not have plans to show it again. It was a special one-night screening with a panel discussion. It is available for viewing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsShNeDvccc
Apologies for missing this. In the future, you can always ask the Savoyards or whatever organization is presenting the production. You can also call the box office (919) 560-3030 on show day.
There is stadium seating on the first and second balconies.
No. We did not. The best source for our film times is our website: carolinatheatre.org
Probably. The show I attended there in December did have wheelchair bound people attending the show. Give them a call to find out.
There are two street spots on Morgan Street next to the theatre, as well as two full, multi-story parking decks across the street from the venue. All have accessible parking within a short distance to the theatre.
