Some of the low star reviews on here are silly, simply ignorant and/or incompetent. When I was in the process of hiring a Family Law attorney I spoke with and/or interviewed nearly a dozen before I chose Barry Mack. I have not regretted the decision once. The quality of his work is outstanding. Tell the truth, he's here to help. I would recommend him to anyone! He really knows his stuff. It's like going to a plastic surgeon, you NEVER want to go to a cheap one. Barry Mack is worth every penny.

Attorney Barry Mack, and his professional team at The Mack Law Offices, treated me with respect throughout an extremely emotional time in my life. Dealing with divorce where children are involved, and unfortunately, with serious accusations that came along with it, they understood what was at stake. I am incredibly grateful to Barry and his team for making an excellent case with the evidence provided, and making sure my children and I were united. I highly recommend The Mack Law Offices for anyone going through this difficult time in their lives.

Yes, the chances will be affected. Usually, a person leaves because of a bad situation, so if a parent leaves an unpleasant situation and leaves the child to the other. The court will have to assess that situation and the circumstances. Is it wise to leave the child or the children? However, when it comes to custody, the regular routines of the child or children are also taken into consideration. So if they have established already in a certain place, the judge might be hesitant to break that because the kids will have to adjust in a new environment if they are taken away.

The Mack Law Offices | Sep 17, 2020

Not necessarily. The courts have a lot of things to consider when it comes to deciding about the custody. Most of the time, things considered are the child’s health and age. Next will be the relationship of the child to each closer parent? Another is the capacity of a parent to nurture the child. The best interests of the child are the ones highlighted in this deciding phase. The physical and mental wellbeing of each parent are also taken into consideration.

Some people thought after the final judgment of the divorce, things will forever be that way permanently. But that is wrong. Divorce agreements may be modified in two ways. The first option is that they file an appeal to the California District Court of Appeals. The second option is to modify the terms of a California Divorce Judgment. If the couple files jointly, the process might take a bit shorter. The waiting period starts when they file the summary dissolution. If only one person files the divorce, after the filing and the answer to each party will only then begin the waiting period. To know more about divorce, contact us. We are here to assist you.

How do California courts divide property in a divorce?

Renzo Morales | Sep 17, 2020
The Mack Law Offices | Sep 17, 2020

A couple going through a divorce will have their assets and debts divided in the process. The assets are first determined whether they are community property or separate. Community property is those that are gained by the couple during the marriage, while separate property is those gained on their own, usually before the marriage. The community property will then be divided into an equal share. The state of California follows community property laws that is why an equal share will be given to each. Some couples can decide on their own, but for others, it is the court that decides.
