If you look closely you’ll see orbs of light. There’s a green one that changed location picture to picture. Very busy place here. Please note this is a place of rest, not thrills. You get what you look for, here. I wanted peace. I share the last name with ancestors here. Maybe we are related.

A lot of history, oldest cemetery in the Akron area. Definitely something to check out, kind of spooky.

Appreciate the Civil War chapel, which I visit with my family on Memorial Day to read the stories of sacrifices made and their significance. Amazing stories and also difficult to imagine. The whole cemetery is beautiful and this gem at the entrance deserves a visit. Read their stories in the pictures attached

There may have been burials prior to the year Glendale became an "official" cemetery. I lost my brochure with the founding info. There's a book that is probably available in the Akron libraries that a woman, from Cuyahoga Falls, next to and north of Akron, spent many years of research on the Glendale Cemetery and her book is the definitive guide about everything you ever wanted to know about the cemetary. You might eant to see if you can check out that book from the Akron main library in downtown Akron. You can look up the library numbers to call on Google Maps or a search on the internet.

Rumor has it that mom bought us kids a plot. We have no paper to prove it. What's easiest way to find out?

Go to the office at the entrance to ask

My grandfather is buried here. I believe there is no headstone. How can I find his location?

Try BillionGraves.com. You can request local volunteers to get images for you. I’m actually going to start photographing there this weekend. BillionGraves allows users to find a gravestone once it’s photographed from their app using gps. Once info is transcribed, the records can be found on multiple sites. Very cool.

It was founded in 1839, so that's most likely when the first burials happened.
