Very cool little museum telling the story of Syracuse’s connection to the salt industry. Most people probably have no idea that this lake was once salt water, and don’t realize what a powerhouse this area was in the salt industry. Many historians believe that the north won the Civil War in large part because of our control over most of the nation’s salt mines, allowing the Union to more easily preserve food for soldiers. There’s a ton of cool info to learn like this at the museum, and it’s free!

Cool look into Syracuse history. Good for older kids and teens as it’s a lot of reading and not any super interactive parts for kiddos

What a great place to see how salt made Syracuse a city! Easy parking etc

A cool old building that houses a musuem of the local history of salt in Syracuse. It is a self guided tour that takes about 30 minutes. Pictures with story boards explaining how salt was drawn from a well and boiled down from brine. You also learn the history of the local dish, salt potatoes. Sorry I will not share it, you will have to go read it yourself.

You might do better contacting the Onondaga Historical Society.

Don't know for sure being that it's on Onondaga Blvd.
The salt musum is pretty interesting. The French fort is also just down the road and is worth a stop as well.
Nope its free. I believe donation is optional :).
