This DMV is one of the best locations we’ve ever been to. Those who work here are very professional. They can be firm on rude, pesky, and pushy customers, but you can expect that if you respect, listen, and follow their guidelines, your transaction can go smoothly and in order. My son and I came here several times and we just had great experiences. I could only say that as a government institution, this location deserves a high recommendation. Would love to be coming here when we need their services. Five star for them, folks!

This is the worst DMV location I have ever been to. The “supervisor” at the front was incredibly rude and condescending. He spoke loudly about each customer’s needs, including asking a customer whether or not they passed their license test in front of everyone (so glad she passed and didn’t have to suffer saying “no” in front of 50 people). He kept telling customers that were entering the building to “try him again” (as in come a few hours later) instead of simply placing a sign on the door that they are not accepting walk-ins. He was on the phone with someone and was trying to manage two lines, but was doing a terrible job because he’s a terrible multitasker. He spoke to MOST customers with a “duh” attitude and constantly cut people off in sentences, shooed them away, and used his power to talk to people in a rude way. He was very knowledgeable about policies and procedures of the office (which is why I’ll bet what was the reason he was promoted to Supervisor), but he has zero people skills and should be fired, or at least demoted. No one wants to hear someone screaming at them for simply needing their license renewed.

This is the worst location of DMV. The person in charge at DMV, Cary is rude, start humiliating people as soon as he sees someone without even knowing why they are there. I witnessed myself when he soughted a mother daughter duo as soon as they walk in. There was no one outside to stop people walking in so of course anyone would walk in. Both women were humiliated in front of at least 50 people and there was a complete silence.

I made two trips to renew my driver's licence, in the office an Indian guy ( who works for the DMV), refuses to help me even I told you and explain that USCIS extends the works permits from my point of view they have to be properly trained in English spoken language in addition in how to solve problems and treat everyone with dignity, they just told me come the next day again I explained that I couldn't miss a day in my work and simple they said you have to choose between the license or your job, his co-workers intervined and they were pretty rude, of course I have family and we have to work for provide foods to my kids.OMG There is a Indian guy who doesn't speak English clearly how come, he is attending customers.

Same experience. When they actually pick up... I was told I have to wait until May (5 months from now)
Yes you need an appointment. Also need previous states valid DL, proof of address (utility bill, cell phone bill), proof of insurance, and social security card.
Does cary take wslkins for id
Call and ask
Think so. You can call to confirm.
It depends on which one you go to, and also how early you get there. I recommend that you get there as soon as they open. When people don't show up for appointments, they will take a walk in. But if you don't get there till around or after lunch, they are going to say that they aren't taking in anymore walk-in. That is what I say last when at a couple different dmv offices in the triangle area.
Just make sure you have proper paper work and call the DMV for info too.
We can go at 630 Am on any week day and stand in the walkin line. The office opens at 7am in cary and they would call inside 2_5 ppl at a time. And would come out of DMV office within 2 hrs or may b take less time than this.
Yes but be prepared to stand in line. Those with appointments will be taken first.
Registrations are provided at the NC DMV License Plate Agency. Closest one to this DMV Driver's License Office is located inside of South Hills Mall in Cary.
Your cars insurance and registration......id showing proof of residence...your learners permit
After you have your annual car inspection, you should be able to pay for the renewal online. The state will send an envelope with a new sticker for your license plate and registration card.
Yes you can but the lines are ridiculous so plan to get there very early and spend hours in line.
That's an interesting question. I'd recommend you call the DMV to find out. They are surprisingly responsive and available over the phone
The previous answer that said you can't is absolutely wrong. (1) You are able to get a DL on a tourist visa, (2) you should *NOT* get an international DL as they are not valid in NC, and (3) you actually *HAVE* to get a NC DL if you plan to stay in NC for over two months and drive while here. You will need: 1) Proof of identification. Your passport would be best. 2) I-94. You can print this at the DHS website. 3) Proof of insurance. Bring your documents. You will be required to pass the written test, vision test and driving test. Then you will be granted a DL for the duration of your stay in the country as indicated on your I-94 (most likely 6 months). You can obtain accurate information when you go to the right source. I recommend you not asking questions to people for they can often mislead you if they don't know what they are talking about, if their intentions are good. For accurate information on NC driving laws, go the DMV website. Hope you get your license!
We went on a Tues at 10am and was in and out in under an hour. 3 people in the place
This is only for driver's licenses. To go for titles, registration, tags, etc you need to go another location. 1251 Buck Jones rd., Raleigh NC 27606
No
I believe you need to look at the license plate offices, this office deals with the driver's licenses only.
Just walk in and they give you a number and they call you up to the window when your number shows up on the monitor screen that's viewed out in the open area.
Yes, you do not need an appointment
It's good to have an appointment
You can either take online appointment for which they have the 1st priority set at the DMV office or you can go early morning before the office opens to stand on a queue for non-appointment. Though taking appointment is safe. And post setting online appointment one will receive a confirmation email with all document requirements for carrying to DMV.
Yes , but you might want to make an appointment
I did a walk in and that was just 2 weeks ago
Yes. They also have driving tests here. Good luck!
If it purged aser
You can go online go their their website and make an appointment..the website also has details of what papers you need to carry with you...
You will have to make an appointment and go in to their office with the death certificate and title to the vehicle. Probably should have some document that shows you have inherited the car, such as a will as well.
Yes you can book appointment and if you have i-797 document
Can I update my driver’s license online without going to the dmv office?
They are closed on Saturday and Sunday. I recommend you go online to their website to set up an appointment.
EVERYTHING is by appointment or online. I was just there yesterday. They're extremely compliant with CDC guidelines. You can't even walk in the door, someone is standing out there to intercept you. But you can do drivers license renewal online I believe and if you can't and you have to make an appointment and the appointments are far out it takes at least a month to get in there.
how to renew newly expired drivers licence?
Yes. They are only taking appointments. Go to nc skip the line to make an appointment! Good luck they are about 2-3 months out.
no
They hardly ever answer phones honestly, that's almost every DMV. You can make an appointment online or go in person and ask. Hopefully that helps. Wish you the best! 🙋♀️
Ive tried numerous times to set up appointments for my drivers license online and over the phone. both get me nowhere, im either endlessly searching for a dmv with “available dates” online or on hold for a least an hour, I have a life, things to do, I cant be glued to my phone waiting for someone to answer for an hour
You need an appointment to do transaction in DMV
DMV website will have each branch hours and ability to schedule
You can book online in this and it shows the availability when u change the calendar.. Link for appointment https://skiptheline.ncdot.gov/Webapp/_/_/_/en/WizardAppt/Welcome
No need to make an online appointment. Walk-ins are not open at this location.
Make an appointment it goes really fast. They only take walk ins if they are not busy. I was impressed
Appointment only for now
Nope
By appointment only
If the drop boxes don't fall tat means there are no time slots available and you have to try the next month or try the next closest facility like I did. I couldn't get anything at the Avent Rd location, but when I selected Cary DMV, I got time slots.
Not at this location. There's one in Raleigh. You might have to search for the licence plate division.
I arrived 15 minutes before they opened. Once they let us inside, I was done in 10 minutes.
Not sure...did you check the NCdmv website?
I believe you have to wait 5 business days before trying again. They changed the rule earlier this year
No
Yes. As long as it has been lesson than a year or 2 from expiration. Bring all original documents that you brought with you the first time you went. Study the road signs. You won't need to take the knowledge test again.
Tough question! Best would be to go down to the DMV and ask them yourself...this way you can get a sure shot answer!
Not really. Good luck.
You will need to make sure your VA license is already in compliance with federal RealID laws in place. I would still make sure to call and ask, but should transfer to NC as long as you still bring the needed paperwork for a RealID here.
Yes you can...there will be documentation..carry all the relevant papers
You really don't need a appointment in Cary because the line me moves so fast because they are really good at what they do.
I'm not sure but I took mine in Fuquay-Varina
This is the DMV driver's license office they don't store titles. for that you would need to go to the title / license plate office. This is located in South hills Mall in Cary.
It can be done online. Visit their website.
If you just moved here your first inspection is deferred till next year
Yes you can get a permit. And it really doesn't matter about the location. They all take forever. Come knowing you will spend half your day in the office.
The documents are listed on the dmv website
You can make an appointment, but most are 6 months or more out.
1251 buckjones road cary NC. please check the website for necessary documents as every situation might be different.
No
Oh😂😂 thank you. I'm still new to NC.
No but the visit would go much faster with an appointment.
No
They are open on new year's eve but closed on new year
yes
No. I had a valid NY driver license and didn't have to. Unless there is an exception for that particular state.
Yrs. But when i asked the other dsy about appointments next available is mid-April
Registration is on Buck Jones Rd Cary
I would call and ask to make sure, but the 14th is when the hurricane is supposed to hit this area full-force. I doubt they'll be open.
Yes.
Go with passport and social security and should be able 2 get a replacement. Also report to police your driver licence was stolen to have report for down the line if yur license be used in identity theft
I don't think so. Even if you could, why would you go to this DMV for that? Go to one of the fast-moving title DMVs in Raleigh or Holly Springs. Don't make life harder than it needs to be 😉
I think so as long as your friend is present and has proof of insurance and registration for the vehicle. You should call ahead and ask, though.
Yes, they do. My 17 year old just got his full provisional on Friday, and they specified that I could not leave because he is a minor.
Social security card, current driver license, another government photo id, and two pieces of mail with your current address
It's about the same in Cary as well. Good luck!
Early like7:00am finish fast Other ways takes for ever 😁
U need to have all the documents like old drivers license, address proof documented proof of name change and major docs is your marriage certificate
Depends on the insurance company. Some like USAA will whereas others only insure him in a specific car
If you are coming from out of state, you need your passport, social security card, old DL, printed proof of insurance with expiration date, and two pieces of address verification (bills, etc).
