Extremely challenging course - will bring average golfers to their knees begging for mercy. Excellent , friendly & knowledgeable staff.

The Cardinal is one that doesn't always make it onto those 'must play' lists of golf courses (in fact, unless you know about it the course often gets overlooked or ignored), but it is a phenomenal course. A gem from Pete Dye, this course will test every aspect of your game. Tee shots require a reasonable amount of accuracy to stay out of trouble, and there's definitely enough trouble to keep you paying attention the whole round. Every hole had either water or OB on it, and several have both. The greens are definitely on the smaller side, and are well protected by (in some cases diabolical) design features. Elevated greens with falloffs, false fronts, and bunkers require good decision making when hitting approaches. Once you're on the green, speed and undulation keep you on your toes. The greens are remarkably consistent throughout the round, and the bentgrass rolls much more true than most. Dye himself stated that the 12th hole was the hardest par 3 he ever designed, which is quite a statement from the man who designed 17 at Sawgrass and both Medalist and The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. It is immediately preceded by the prettiest hole on the course, a downhill par 4 with bunkers and water surrounding the green. Postcard stuff to be sure. Do yourself a favor and bring extra golf balls. Purchasing the yardage book (they're not very expensive) is also not a bad idea. All in all, it's definitely a great course that will bring smiles (or curse words) to your face.

Questions & Answers

Dead oak tree which has been struck by lightning over 2 months ago. I have informed the Golf manager and he is aware of this fact. He knew we lived n the 11th hole and said it was going to cost too much money to remove. This is urgent for my home!
