I enjoyed my 2 night stay at Hotel Florence. This was the highlight of my stay. I like the idea of restoration projects that leave as much of the original building with all the modern interior upgrades. Having said that, I brought my favorite travel foods and drinks but my room didn't have a refrigerator in it and I didn't think to ask before booking because most rooms have them. The room was clean and quiet. Not sure what it was like near the elevator but I never stay in a room near the elevator. People are often loud waiting for or getting off the elevator. There's ice and vending on each floor as well as a office area with a computer. There's ample hotel parking across the street and in back of the hotel. There's metered parking spaces on the street with 2 hour parking starting at 8 a.m. I didn't eat dinner at the restaurant in the hotel (Victor's) but I did try their breakfast. Breakfast was the low part of my stay. It took 34 minutes for my bacon and egg sandwich with no cheese to come out, but when it came out it was a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich that I had to remove the sausage and cheese from. They offered to make a new sandwich but I had to decline due to time constraints. No refrigerator and breakfast blunders minus 1 ⭐️

Previous reviews mention no closets, drawers, fridges, or luggage racks -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention strong musty/damp smell -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention great, walkable location -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention quality of construction concerns such as flaking caulk in bathrooms and sloppy paint jobs on windows -- ACCURATE Previous reviews mention "no parking" -- we had no problem with abundant free parking in the garage accessible from the back door. Maybe they need to advertise it better? Previous reviews mention "hit or miss" experiences in the restaurant - our food was very good at dinner. The next morning "specialty coffees" (aka espresso) was not available??? -- ACCURATE To the above I would add: 1) Service: the same people at the desk and at the bar at 11pm on day one; would be the same people at the desk/bar at 8am the next morning-- there's something wrong with that. They were all polite, but run ragged. Hilton needs to do something about the wages and recruiting efforts. I don't want to feel like a demanding customer at a Tapestry hotel. Everyone should be well rested, well paid, have high standards of personal grooming, and be eager to uphold high standards. 2) Service again: at a Tapestry hotel you're telling me "complimentary" cleaning service is available by request only, if you request it by 8am? Give me a break. We did request it-- and it did not happen. Fix your staffing problems with better wages. 3) Security: each morning we were there all the rooms that were being cleaned (including ours) were left dead bolted open and unsupervised. Unacceptable. All the staff we encountered (except one lady at the restaurant who was grouchy and clearly exhausted from overwork) were polite.

I don't understand all the negative reviews, I have stayed at this hotel four times and every time has been fantastic. It is a boutique hotel, all the people complaining about small rooms and no closets, etc... understand what you are booking before you book. I love this hotel, the staff is great, the location is great and yes the rooms are a bit small but I love it.

I was first introduced to urine all over the floor near the toilet and on the toilet seats. I brought this up to the front desk personnel (two ladies on the night shift) and they did nothing except jot down the discrepancy on a sticky pad, and said they will alert morning management. I then was told by my wife of hair on the toilet seat and in the shower that was not ours. It was like someone shaved themselves on the toilet top seat. I showed the picture of the hair on the toilet seat to the front desk personnel again. Once again, a note was jotted down, and nothing done to situate issue. We the guests had to clean up the mess, instead of any hotel staff. Once we settled in to bed, the sheets and pillows smelled of extreme body odor. Because there was already a poor response from front desk staff, we just dealt with it for the night. I brought this up again to the morning crew and still nothing has happened from any part of the hotel staff. This place has high reviews from all places I looked, this is the reason we booked. Being a Hilton Honors member, I would expect some sort of response. Nothing. We did not even receive the notification of food credit from the initial check-in. I was given the "option" in the morning by the front desk employee that "breakfast was on us". I get a food credit from my Honors membership ma'am. We chose to go elsewhere since we did not want to have additional issues at the hotel, that might go unresolved. I am extremely glad I don't have to stay there again, nor would I recommend anyone to that establishment.
