I have been a patient of Atkinson Family Practice for many years. The level of care is exceptional and they truly do treat you like family. As a patient living with a chronic illness, I have found them to be kind, compassionate, empathetic, thorough, and rigorous. Dr. Kate and her staff have advocated on my behalf so many times that I’ve lost count and any issues I have are resolved promptly and completely with easy access to my providers. I work most closely with Dr. Kate (my PCP), Miranda (a PA), and Mark (also a PA). All three of them are absolutely fabulous and are dedicated to creating and nurturing a provider-patient partnership. I’m free to ask questions, suggest treatment options, and disagree without any fear of being labeled a “difficult patient.” I’ve also been able to schedule same-day appointments with ease when my chronic illness flares up. They ensure that I have the tools that I need to deal with the flare-up while also constantly looking for new and different treatments that may be beneficial for me. I never feel rushed in my appointments. In fact, all of my providers ask about my life in general and make sure they’ve addressed and answered all of my questions and concerns before they get up to leave the room. They are totally focused on me and whatever has brought me to the appointment (in person or virtually.) I’ve also been incredibly impressed with AFP’s seamless and successful switch to telehealth visits. They made me feel safe, informed, and cared for even amidst a global pandemic. I’m part of a robust chronic illness community and part of my advocacy work involves speaking at conferences and networking with other patients. Whenever I share stories about AFP, people are surprised and envious of the top-notch, comprehensive care I receive. The collaborative care within the practice is nothing short of amazing and there are so many opportunities to take part in support groups and classes. There’s no place like AFP and I am so grateful to have them as my medical home. I give them my highest recommendation.

My time at Atkinson Family Practice has been a rollercoaster to say the least! While all of my NPs have been lovely, I have had three different care providers in two years, NEVER being notified of my previous NPs departure from the practice. I have also had multiple instances of my reproductive health visits being unprofessional or unhelpful. The most horrifying of which was when my IUD was placed. Initially all was perfect! I sat for the placement and Dr Atkinson was a peach — kind and chatty, it barely even hurt! When I returned home I discovered my string was poking out, and when I called back I assumed everything would be fine, just a simple fix! I was WRONG! Dr Atkinson was INCREDIBLY unprofessional, telling me my strings were not sticking out and essentially gaslighting me. I know what I saw and felt, as did my friend who checked for me because I couldn’t believe my eyes! Dr Atkinson barely talked to me, and wasn’t gentle at all considering she had just placed the IUD less than an hour before. It was an absolutely mortifying experience and she “refused” to cut my strings shorter. But, she inserted the cutting instrument and after my visit the strings no longer stuck out. When I managed to say “thank you” after she stood up she said nothing and slammed the door on her way out. I of course left the office in tears and never went back. Truly could not believe the unprofessional, rude and downright disrespectful way that I was treated. After that, if I could give her a review of zero I would.

This practice used to be amazing, Since the head Dr started focusing more on money and less on quality care, the place has gone down the tubes. They constantly miss diagnose issues, delay treatment by faxes and other papers not properly being sent, they loose lab samples without doing all the tests. The list is endless. They do have some great staff in this office that really do care about you, but the turnover rate and the lack of consistency in care has gotten really bad. Unless you want to figure out your own diagnosis and do their job for them spending your weeks going to the drs 5 times for the same issue I’d suggest you find a different office…. Update after a year of leaving this practice and seeing new drs it really is eye opening how little this this office actually did. For my health . Most Staff are unbelievably nice but if you want to actually solve your medical issues and not just cover with medicines I’d look for a new office .

I have been a patient for several years. Dr. Kate and her caring staff have helped me address a number of issues, from relatively minor to potentially life-threatening. I am very glad to be a patient.

I don't think so.. But I would definitely call Kate's office to find out for sure.. But last I knew, she was not taking on new patients, unless they are referred to her or talk to her directly and convince her. Since she is the owner
I believe No sadly, but call and check or the really best way is to email the owner doctor directly and talk with her...
