Several years ago I purchased a pair of Chippewa boots (from Ted's Boot Shop in Northampton), all leather, Vibram sole, welt construction. I wanted a boot that would last a long time, able to be repaired unlike throw - away boots w/molded soles. Eventual the stitching that held the upper to the sole at the welt was starting to go on one. I brought it in to She-Fix, (I don't know the man's name) I asked if he needed to take the sole off to redo the stitching, he said maybe. He said they'd be ready next day. When I went in to pick up the boot, I asked how much, he shook his head and said "no cost". I couldn't believe it, I still gave him money. Looking over his repair he did have to take the sole off, replace some leather to do the repair - pretty extensive work! The repair was beautiful, perfect. He is a master craftsman, English is not his native language, he under charges for very high quality work w/skills that are a dying art form.
