Excellent location: 20 minute ride from the airport, block and a half from the Target Center and surrounded by good places to dine or have a drink. Room was updated, clean and breakfast bar was excellent. Check-in was a little disorganized - our room wasn't ready on time but they remedied the situation quickly and professionally. Would definitely book again next time we're in town.

The hotel looked nicer than it was, definitely put a lot of lipstick on the pig in the room. Water pooled in the shower and didn't drain completely, the lighting was dull and relatively insufficient, and the bed was a hodgepodge. I'll explain the bed. It was a king bed on two twin box springs of different lengths, the king had a queen size mattress pad and no fitted sheet atop, only a standard king sheet over the pad. Housekeeping is by request only.

There are several things that were great about our stay at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Minneapolis. The valet parking attendants were courteous and friendly. The staff at the breakfast was very friendly, accommodating and patient as there were hoards of people due to what I think was a dance competition/event. Lots of families, teenagers and groups. The room we had (309) was amazing. It was so clean, beautiful and the room darkening shades made our restful and comfortable. On to the reasons for the lower rating. After taxes, room charges and valet parking, our total bill for 3 nights was almost $900. This isn't chump change. There is a sign on the bathroom mirror stating that we could pick our room service - meaning, we could decide if we wanted room service every day, or one, or two...all we had to do was call the front desk. We checked in on a Thursday. We didn't request room service for Friday. Saturday morning, I went to the front desk and asked if we could have room service. The clerk informed me that they "would try, but that they were flipping the house." He asked what, specifically we needed. I said we would like towels and he said that he would definitely provide those. But he wasn't sure about any other housekeeping. He said if we had wanted that, we should have called the front desk and requested it the night before. How the heck would I know that?? I was following the directions left on the bathroom mirror. I'm also not one to extend a great deal of understanding when I ask for customer service and in response to the request get a reason why they can't. How is it my problem that you are "flipping the house" and can't provide a guest's request? When we returned to our room Saturday afternoon, there were, indeed, towels provided. Two bath towels, two hand towels, and that is it. I also noted that the glassware we had in the room was not removed, and our bed, of course, wasn't made. Were it not for the $900 price tag attached to our stay, I wouldn't spend this much time leaving a review. But when a hotel is charging those kinds of rates, well, show me the service, honey. My final reason for this rating relates to the fact that several guests were obviously partaking in smoking marijuana. It would be impossible to not smell the obnoxious odor on almost every floor and often in the elevators. I hold the hotel accountable to a greater degree because aren't these rooms supposed to be smoke free? Or is marijuana an exception? For every pot smoking guest who thinks it's their right to get high, for those of us who don't imbibe - we have a right to not have to tolerate it. The hotel could have and should have stepped in when and where possible. Upon our departure, I stepped into an elevator smelling heavily of marijuana. The person in the elevator asked if I was the one smoking it. I said no, and she told me her sad story of having a room next to her that partied all night, and smoked, and the smell of marijuana filled her room. She notified the hotel who supposedly called the police, but they never showed up. For this level of hotel, I expect a level of decorum among the clientele, and this fell very far short of the mark. The onus is on the hotel to maintain control over those guests who don't follow the rules - they were smoking, and not following the rules! If staying in Minneapolis is in my future, I'd check current reviews for the Embassy Suites before opting to make a reservation here.

The room/bathroom was very large. Very clean and comfortable. There is only 1 area for the elevators, so we had a long walk down to our room. No parking on site, so you have to find a public parking ramp and walk back to the hotel or pay to use the valet, which is understandable being downtown. The food was very good. Free breakfast from the hotel. Lyons Pub is connected from the lobby which had a great menu and even better food. Compared to other hotels in the area, this was the best I have stayed at. I will be booking here again.

Yes there are.
No they don't
Not sure but I didn't see any pets in the two weeks I stayed there.
2nd floor to the right as you exit the elevators. You will need a room key to enter.
They have valet, or you can park yourself down the block at the 50 south 6th street ramp.
Weekdays 7 - 9
No, there are no balconies.
Use public parking, it is about the same distance and much cheaper.
Great, and def w/in walking distance! Glueks is one of my favs! First Avenue is walking distance too, if you want to check it out. There's plenty to choose from. The happy hour at the hotel was a nice start to a fun night of bar hopping.
I think the lowest part was 90". It was tight in my f250!
