VCA has moved into the Sacramento area in a big way in the past decade, forcing small vets out of business. VCA charges are heavy and they will try to sell you everything at a high cost. They gave my cat so many vaccinations that it caused a vaccination site cancer. Of course they would not own up to it and wanted in excess of 5k to treat. I had to take my poor cat to a reputable vet. But she still died in less than a year. A person has to think very carefully about getting a pet with big outfits like VCA taking over.

No. VCA Referral hospital is close and best bet for true emergency. SUNSET clinic is also very good. It is not open 24hr but is open on weekends. Referral hospital is 24/7.
I do not believe they provide boarding. This location is smaller than the previous location, which is the full time vet hospital.
Appointments are recommended. You should call ahead. If there aren't any available appointments the staff can directed you to another location that may be able to help.
