What a fantastic trip! This was a really random find from a clerk in a store, but I’m so glad we did it. Our tour guide was Taz, and he was phenomenal. At no point did we feel unsafe, and 2/3 of our group hadn’t done this before. I am really please with the entire experience. The safety portion is informative, but hilarious, and everyone is as extremely knowledgeable. This was fun for everyone, and I can’t wait to come back and do the longer excursion. Thanks so much!

This was my 2nd time using River Rat Whitewater Outpost as I’ve rafted down the Pigeon River with a fantastic guide Crash who does a phenomenal extreme rafting adventure. If you’re going to raft the Pigeon no better outfit than River Rat crew! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

It’s was excellent ,our guide was very knowledgeable, kind and respectful. And he made it so fun for everyone . We definitely recommend this place for anyone.. Ask for Wes our tour guide..his awesome.

Hands down, one of the most fun things I have ever done. We had Justin and Bobbie as our guides and they were wonderful. Very helpful and very entertaining. My only complaint is that it didn't last longer haha I could easily ride the entire length of the river with these two. Very knowledgeable and very helpful to someone who had never rafted before. I highly recommend River Rat to anyone who is looking to tackle a whitewater adventure. They will take great care of you. 10/10 recommend!

Here are the age restrictions for our Whitewater Adventures: Upper Pigeon and Xtreme Upper Pigeon Adventures (Class 3 & 4): Ages 8 and older Lower Pigeon Adventure (Class 1 & 2 rapids): Ages 3 and older Daycation (2 Trips + Meal): Ages 8 and older As for weight/size restrictions, it is determined based on the fact that you must be able to fit in and meet the buoyancy limit of the U.S. Coast Guard-approved Type V Personal Flotation Device that you will be required to wear. It will fit up to a 56″ chest and is designed to provide buoyancy for guests that weigh up to 500lb. Water level is variable by Duke Power. The river is downstream of a damn. So it just depends on how much water Duke Power wants to let loose.
Hey, there! It is so unfortunate that you did not enjoy your experience with one of our guides. Our guides' experience levels range from new to 20+ years of guiding around the world. Regardless of past experience levels, River Rat Whitewater has a base requirement that all guides must still complete a full safety training course, which we have made more rigorous than is mandated for all rafting companies leading tours on the Pigeon River. If you look through our ratings and reviews left by our past guests here, on Tripadvisor, FB, etc., you will be able to see that negative experiences are very rare at our Outpost. As a result, our Management has worked to avoid repeating the mistake by speaking with your guide and assigning additional training. We sincerely hope that your experience does not hinder you from rafting any other river, as it is truly a wonderful activity. Should you choose to raft the Pigeon again, we hope you'll consider giving our River Rat crew another opportunity.
It was very mild. And we had a tour guide. But we got soak and we with a very good time
Our Lower Pigeon Adventure features Class 1 & 2 rapids and our Upper Pigeon Adventure features Class 3 & 4 rapids.
