Avis is really Budget now apparently. Here's the good news, the car ran at least. It was a dinged up older minivan, which was okay. But a few days in, the warning light lit up for zero miles until oil change. Couldn't reach a human being on the phone to advise me, so I had to take time out of my vacation to bring it back to Avis. (We had an eight hour drive heading up to Destin, so couldn't take any chances.) The oil in dictator was like a clock winding down to 0 miles left for oil change and they should have seen it, so they just aren't servicing their cares properly. When I brought it back, they were very pleasant and exchanged the car for my next Avis/Budget "beater". One surprise was that they made me fill the gas up even though they should have covered it since they inconvenienced me and my party. It was down to 3/4 of a tank. The next car was less dinged up, but the rear back up camera was intermittent, only working some of the time. Also, the air pressure in the tires was off and varied from one tire too the other. Something else that should have been checked. Bottom line is that this isn't your father's Avis, this is more like an expensive Budget Car Rental. Based on this experience, I will not rent from Avis again. They don't maintain their cars and they don't cover the customer as they are inconvenienced. Not to mention, you can't get a human being on the phone if there is an issue. ********* 9-12-22 Avis answered my review below. As instructed, I did contact them. We will see if anything is actually done, or if this is just theater. Wouldn't it be easier to just have good service upfront instead of doing this after the fact? I will check back if and when they respond. I won't be holding my breathe. ******* 9-14-22 Avis reached out after two days and apologized and made no attempt to make things right. My 1 star review stands. They sent two cars out without checking them. Avis is Budget, but more expensive. Go elsewhere, I am next time.

Car assigned smelled of smoke. It had extensive exterior damage and stains on interior. Car made noise when going over 30 mph. Car was noted for auction upon returning it.

Picking up our car took almost an hour because we used a travel company based in Europe. The staff never smiled or said thank you. The first car we received was physically damaged including a broken driver's side mirror. It is very difficult to communicate with the guard at the exit and he refused to document scratches, etc. that I wanted to point out. Returning the car, we never encountered an employee. We just had to leave the key in the car and leave. We received no confirmation that the car was returned in the same condition as picked-up nor that the gas tank was full. The West Palm Beach airport location definitely needs the attention of upper management.
