First off, this rescue is absolutely wonderful! If you are considering volunteering, please note that you are not signing up to ride lesson ponies and give a horse a bath. We clean stalls, scrub buckets, sweep…it’s hard work. But once you take the free and simple horsemanship class you can handle horses and groom them! The people there are great, and the volunteers all work together efficiently. The horses are wonderful as well! There’s a great variety, from off-the-track thoroughbreds to formerly wild mustangs to ponies and seniors. I have volunteered here for 10 months and I have no plans to stop anytime soon; I love it here! So if you’re willing to do some dirty work and help these gorgeous animals, this is the place for you!

Great place, doing so much with so little. I volunteer there and they state up front, no riding, but you can spend time with the horses. They take care of each and every horse as if it was their own.

Best volunteer group you could ever ask for. Horses are their passion and love and it shows, the animals are happy and well taken care of. Please make a contribution if you can.

From FB: "A little after 5pm today ERAF welcomed 11 Paso Finos from a rescue group out of Union County, Florida. This was the result of an emergency seizure of 51 horses facilitated by the Union County Sheriff and the ASPCA. Welcome to the #Union11. The horses range in age from 2-20ish, both geldings and mares. All are safely settled in for the night. Tomorrow the real work begins. We will have much more information (and photos!) in the coming days so stay tuned! Thank you to all of our amazing staff and volunteers who assisted tonight. Special thanks to Emily Weiss from the ASPCA for her assistance and support. This is what we do. We can’t do it without you. #horses #rescuehorses #pasofino #donate #sponsor #volunteer #adopt #$11forUnion11

Contact the center during the day or go there and speak to them, they will be glad to explain. If you volunteer you will have to go to an orientation class, then four short classes to work with the horses which are safety and cleanliness classes. Nice group of people. They are there 7 days a week and always need help with something.
