I would like to thank Miss Carlene and the staff at The Ft Lauderdale Family Success Center for making the somewhat rigid process , easier to get through. After losing my employment to covid health issues and a roomate leaving with no notice or paying bills, I as a single mom, was (am) at a very desperate situation. I was able to get assistance and although, as I mentioned, the process IS rigid. Its simply these ladies to be a liaison between thebpublic and funding company. It can be frustrating when trying to seek help to go through EVERY document with a fine tooth comb but if not completed correctly, the grants wont be awarded anyway. I know most people are obviously reaching out to places like these when times are hard, tension is high and patience is low but the staff is stays very professional with explaining the process. I would reccomend just double checking ALL of the required documents 3 Xs before you go to avoid further frustrations and avoid taking anything personal if your are asked for more docs etc... The staff is not making the rules but they have to follow them. They were a savior in this time and I'm very grateful. I was a little nervous because Fpl applied the grant assistance that I am to receive on an old account. Miss Carlene wasnt sure if there was anything they could do in-house since Fpl would have to fix their own mistake. Well Miss Carlene was able to help me out. Im relieved and grateful! Thank you all again
Lovely Lady
Spoke with someone here about child care assistance and she was talking to me like I was a child and didn’t have any sense. I needed assistance, but I’m not below anybody, and that’s exactly how she treated me.

Google the phone number, I don't have. But what I do know is, they do take walkins. You must get there at 7:45am line up at the door, and must have state Id or drivers license to get in. Look up Edgar Mills community services.
I have no interest in the community handouts at this location
No worse place ever
Yes. Family success center is the middle man that connects you to housing assistance depending on your individual situation or circumstances. They can and should help.. They have several different housing programs such as rapid rehousing which includes providing a case worker assigned to you. They get all the necessary details and documents that are required to determine how much and how long you may need assistance. The rent is paid in increments from 100% of the rent first month to 80% the next and 50% until the year is over and you are back able to pay your rent in full 100% . This is a good program if you know you can keep a job and have your job for sure in another year or you will be back in the same situation you initially started from because you won't be able top afford your rent. The rent prices keep getting more expensive and it may be difficult to save money. Other programs such as financial capability and lihelp etc for utilities and financial assistance.
