Crab Creek Conservation Area

We went today Aug 26, in a 2 hr window caught 2 good sized crabs we let go when we left. The parking lot was full at 10am. There were about a dozen people crabbing in a small area and we were the only ones that caught any from what we could see. The kids loved it but it did seem as though there were a lot lot more people crabbing than the number of crabs.

Horrible experience, from a year ago this place looks completely different.. it’s a shame that people continue to over crab and completely disregarding the regulation rules!!

Massachusetts Fish and Game: you need to have wardens out here controlling people, put up bigger signs, something. It’s unbelievable that without fail every time I come here I see someone keeping small crabs. Start slapping fines on these people and they will think twice. The last two times I’ve been here I have respectfully (which they don’t deserve) let people know they cannot take these small crab. These people know damn well, of course, but ignore the rules because they are selfish. I urge people that we need to self-police this area. Tell these people what they are doing is wrong!

This used to be my favorite place but humans have completely ruined it. Last 2 times I went out I saw people keeping everything with no regard to for the ecosystem. Last time was the worst, witnessed 4 people catching and keeping everything possible from babies less then 1 inch and even pregnant females. No wonder why this area has almost nothing anymore. There are signed posted everywhere on the laws but these people do not care, they would rather be selfish and ruin it for everyone. Absolutely disgusting. Also even if there is a town trash barrel onsite, most decide to leave their trash in the water or in the woods. The amount of trash you will find is insane.
