It is a good place to enjoy with the family
The bridge is free if you cross it going west, going east is when you pay the toll.
This 10.8 mile section of the Appalachian Trail features Black Mountain, West Mountain, Bear Mountain, Timp Torne Trail, Bear Mountain Inn, Bear Mountain Zoo. The section of trail that travels through the zoo and then toward the Bear Mountain Bridge, is an original section of the AT from 1923.
Depending on day and time.Weekends it's best to get there early. The area will close to parking from 11/15-4/15 If you are handicapped with a permit, you *may* be able to park in the lot by the toll booths-*Ask First!* also if you have Mobility issues, the South side of the bridge can accommodate a standard wheelchair/walker. The North side is Narrow!
Standard car: Eastbound $1.25 with pass or $1.50 cash http://www.nysba.state.ny.us/index%20page/NYSWeb_tolls_NoLogo.htm
For passenger cars: $1.50 cash; but only $1.25 if you have an E-ZPASS.
Hi, the clearance below the bridge is 155'. The actual roadway clearance is enough for all legal vehicles.
