I watched an older woman (presumably the owner) be so rude to a younger employee. I just moved to the area and recently spoke with my neighbors and it seems the owners have a reputation of being unkind. I will take my business elsewhere.

Horrible customer service experience. While the younger workers were friendly and just doing their best, who I presume to be the owner had the worst attitude and made it miserable to visit this marketplace. We waited about 30 minutes for our food. Then there was a mistake because the menu was not up to date and resulted in a miscommunication with the workers. After waiting half an hour, they made the wrong food. We would've been fine with just taking the messed up order and being on our way, however because it was a more expensive option, the owner wanted us to pay the full price for the food we never ordered, or wait more time to remake something completely different that was nowhere near what we wanted in the first place. I don't understand because that food was going to be thrown away anyways if they wouldn't give it to us. The owner practically blamed us for their mistake, wouldn't give the food, and when we asked for money back they were really pushy about making something else. On top of that, the younger workers seemed miserable, and it felt like the owner did nothing but berate them. Would not recommend ever going here.

Not a business I would recommend supporting after my experience with the owner, who was very rude to myself and the cool employees. I visited during the lunch rush and ordered with the "make your own sandwich" slip. There was a confusion as lobster salad was an option on the slip with no additional cost. A kind employee called me over and said they would make me a lobster sandwich since the lobster salad was unavailable. I paid based off the price on the slip and waited about half an hour for my food, and was presented with a lobster roll. The old lady who appears to own or run the place grabbed the food out of my hands and rudely told me I need to pay an extra $20 and proceeded to yell at one of the employees. I explained that I paid based off the price on the slip and wanted a sub with lobster salad. She was very accusatory and took the food away from me, telling me I cannot have any sandwich with lobster for that price, even though it was an option on the slip. It was just a confusion, but the attitude and aggressive tone of voice that she spoke to me with nearly made me cry. At this point i didn't want to wait any longer so I asked for a refund, but was instead told I need to pick something else off the menu. I left with a turkey sandwich that was okay, but definitely not worth $17. To make matters worse, an employee approached me afterwards and apologized, expressing that the owners are notorious for being awfully rude to customers and employees alike. This place is in a great location and has such a great variety of food to grab, it's a shame. I suggest the owner relook at the attitude she carries. It's really not that hard to be kind, even when there is a lobster confusion.

It's a wonderful place with wonderful people. The staff cater to your needs with a selection that is by far better than anything you can get at woods hole. Great deli!! Awesome sammies!!!
