I gave notice of intent to vacate a few days earlier for a month-to-month lease and they tried to charge me for three months of rent. Their nonsense reasoning was that my month-to-month lease has not been started yet and I'm technically still in the original lease. They already invoiced me for a month-to-month rent, which is 30% higher than regular rent, and it was automatically paid to them. Only a 30-day notice is required for a month-to-month lease vs. a 90-day for the original lease based on the signed lease. We were also misled that the unit is handicapped and was not given a chance to tour it before signing the lease. However, it wasn't handicapped and my parent has fallen a few times because no proper handicapped equipment has been installed in the unit.
