I regret to say that my experience in trying to contact the Canadian Consulate in Boston was very poor. I followed the instructions for those wanting to enter Canada, and became mired in a never-ending loop with no hope of reaching a person. I do understand that the border situation between Canada and the U.S. could change at any moment because of COVID-19, resulting in a higher number of calls than usual. If so, the voice messaging system should allow the caller to leave a message, or offer some other option than to just 'repeat the previous message'.

1st generation Canadians birth abroad may be Canadian citizens. Submit the Proof of Canadian Citizenship application and you will get an official response. Canada.ca
You may be inadmissable. You need to find out for yourself what forms to complete and send off: canada.ca. The Canadian Government won't advise you personally what the process is and what forms to use.
NO, a “Real ID” is not proof of citizenship and will not be accepted by Canadian border officials for entry. If you have an “Enhanced Drivers License” then that will be accepted. Please note only a few states issue these.
