That's the state park business, not Weeki Wachee kayak company! This company was fantastic when I used them. Drive us down to Tigers park out the kayaks in the water for us and sent us on our way. When we came back after going up river and then floating down river, they were there to pick us up at the same spot, load out great and drive us back to our car. Fantastic day! No timeline or fingers like other companies. Laid back
Yep thy have it,40$ but make sure to take it from the top of river
Do you know the name of the place your recommending to rent the kayaks?
Yes, a couple in the van with me had their own kayaks. They load them up and launch you for a charge
$45 single Kayak for entire day if you like. They drop you at top and pick you up at bottom of river
Not that I have seen. When we took our kids we paired one kid with one adult per kayak.
There are a few kayaking businesses on the Weeki Wachee river but at the one I went to they had a building where you would go in and book a reservation or rent a kayak. If you already have one you will still have to go in there and ask them and pay for it but then they will send you the address and you just drive there. It will be in the back of a different building so it's a bit hard to spot.
It's better to in case they're busy, but not required. Just know that they may not have any available if you don't make the reservation beforehand.
8 hours
No, I don't think so.
Yep all day!!. I don't think you can go all the way upstream and back in one day either. It's pretty much a laid back day.
I don't believe so. A lot of families go. Everyone just needs a life jacket and they supply those at the various rental places when you get your kayaks or canoes.
You can fish, we did pay a fee to rent the kayaks
I would say the youngest should be 3. Yes there are life vests and such, but it's a long trip down a river and they would just be in the kayak for hours.
From what I was told by the kayak rental across from Rogers Park( bottom of spring), the operation at the top, will be changing their route to just paddle 1/2 way and then paddle back, eliminating the need for shuttles. The current is often very strong there and not so easy to paddle the whole way upstream during the tidal ( changing tides) waves.
it costs nothing
Well you will have to pay park entrance but yes.
We took sandwiches, chips and Gatorade...simple lunch. If you pack it in pack it out and you'll be fine!
Yes. Only while launching from the private dock.
Usual weight limits are around 220 - 250lbs. If you are in the heavier side it just means you will be sitting in water the whole trip. Which doesn't matter because at Weeki Wachee you will be enjoying frequent swims anyway.
If you Google Weeki Wachee kayaking you will see everything you need to know. I've been there and it's way to much fun. I'd recommend this trip to beginners or anyone.
I didn't see any when I was there. Its is a very popular kayaking and boating location, I doubt crocs stick around with that much traffic.
