Came in with my car over heating after driving on i4, I was in a hurry to get it looked at as I was worried, and they charged me over $50 to check the head gasket. After doing the diagnostic he told me the head gasket was blown and that it'd cost more to fix than the car itself cost. Then he tried selling me a truck for $2800. I drove my car home and had a friend look at it who knows mechanics as a second opinion. I looked it over very thoroughly (a good 10-15 minutes vs their 5 min diagnostic) and turned out it was just the radiator fan not working. Nothing at all wrong with the head gasket. Midas pulled one on me after finding out I'm not mechanically inclined then tried selling a truck to me. Instead of defying the mechanic stereotype and actually helping me honestly. Replaced the fan and now it runs fine. How about instead of taking advantage of those that aren't as knowledgeable in your field as you are, you actually help them? You still make money and you don't get the bad stereotype. Be wary when bringing your vehicle to them. You may end up almost buying a new vehicle you don't need.
