If it has been rainy they will close the roads. It can be a little muddy and slippery at times.

I don't know, but they close it probably due to excessive rain. There are pot holes and is probably due to those getting worse. probably repairing. Once open, you'll love it. So beautiful there
Sometimes they are closed due to conditions. If they've been really wet they can get damaged more easily, so they'll be get preemptively closed. Additionally they've been closed at other times for resurfacing following damage like excessive washboarding. It's also possible that if an animal, especially a protected animal, nested too near the road it couldn't blocked off temporarily.
Most likely not, it is managed by County (Brevard) employees. They are over zealous in their role on regular days, hounding you to exit way before closing time. It would certainly be a nice walk Christmas day if it's open, great scenery and nature!

A lot of times they close it after a heavy rain to keep the road from being destroyed from car traffic.
Usually they put the chain across when it has been raining a lot bc the road washes out and develops huge pot holes
It is open evey day as long as its not raining as the roads are not paved and become very muddy
