I had an awful experience with this housing authority. In my family, we were fortunate enough to receive a voucher twice (hear me out). Our upcoming apartment should be easy to find and live in, right? Section 8 voucher apartments are not readily available. Within two days of receiving our first voucher, we had our first voucher rescinded right when we spent time and gas mileage to apply for the apartment in person. Our application was approved. But, because they rescinded it, this chance was lost for a long time. As for the second voucher, we had a terrible experience with an apartment that did not permit my bird as a pet even though it accepted cats and dogs. Before signing the agreement, they told me they accepted birds, but then altered the terms just after signing, keeping my 700 non-refundable fees. Of course you are responsible for the security deposit. In addition to these, you will also need to pay the necessary application fees, pet rent, pet fees, renters insurance, and utility deposits. In many cases, you will have to pay these fees no matter what apartment you find, even those accepting section 8 housing. No matter how many times I received the vouchers, I was unable to settle into an apartment. You will find it very difficult to obtain three bedroom apartments. The most you can come across is two or one. It was difficult to find an apartment with a strict deadline. Being misled is a horrible experience. As we felt that hope and joy we had not felt in a long time, everything returned to its usual struggles with finding aid with housing and financial burdens.
