Beautiful walk through the woods! A lot of space to explore, but fairly easy to get turned around on the trails.

The Bay Colony Rail Trail is made up of three trails. The Needham, MA section is 1.7 miles. The Dover and Medfield sections have not yet been built (as of Sept. 2020) but are in the planning process.

Are the trails suitable for biking? It mentions that the trails are covered in crushed gravel, not smooth.

Yes, the Needham trail has a compacted stone dust surface. It's best suited for kid, commuter, hybrid and mountain bikes. You can ride a road bike on it, but it's not the same experience as a paved trail.
