Paul is a lifesaver! Paul has taught me to be the leader of the pack in my house and not let Holly dictate everything. In just one day, there was a vast improvement in 3 out of the 4 behavior I am trying to correct. Not getting on the furniture is still a work in progress. Thank you Paul for making my life a 1000% easier.

I recently adopted a <1 year old Dalmatian and was quickly overwhelmed by his energy and dominant personality. I reached out to Paul who was able to show me ways to effectively communicate with him. After one training session, my Fisher has been respecting my personal space, learning his commands and walking on a leash without dragging me behind him. I couldn't believe the difference a day made, and each day he gets better and better! Thankful to have found Paul, who gave me tools and techniques to last a lifetime.

I reached out to Paul at Dog’s Best Friend for basic obedience skills for our 8 month old puppy. Upon arrival, Paul quickly assessed that our puppy Lucy was doing well and needed only minimal assistance with things like submissive urination, barking and jumping. But Paul was very interested in our rescue dog. We adopted him 4 years ago and he has severe PTSD from a past life we have no idea of. I have been told by other trainers that his issues are too severe to correct. Paul asked to see him. By the end of the 2 hour session our rescue dog was feeling more confident and responding to the information Paul had given me. I am in disbelief that the simple, straight forward techniques he showed me are assisting my little man to have more confidence and feel better. As one example, the yard crew came by today, and he didn’t bark once at them. I know I will need to continue to work on our new skills. But I feel confident going forward, so does Murphy. I can’t thank Paul enough. I’m excited and grateful.

If you believe in a choke collar and your dog ends up with a cough after 2 hours, this would be your guy. If you want to be told "Good luck, your dog is so stubborn", this would be your guy!

Questions & Answers

Why is my dog showing aggression toward people or other dogs?

I went to visit a client who told me that her dog was being aggressive toward her neighbor’s dog every time they are on a walk. We leashed up & went outside, my client holding the leash. As we passed by the neighbor’s dog, sure enough Jewels went wild, pulling, lunging, & barking. I asked the neighbor to be still with her 3 dogs & I took the leash & began walking Jewels in the other direction. I guided her to walk by my side with some slight leash corrections & a few “good girls”. After 5 or 10 minutes of this I walked past the neighbor once more only this time Jewels just glanced over at them & continued walking next to me & in fact kept looking up at me as we passed by. Once again I said “good girl.” The difference was my client’s energy was all wrong. She was nervous about passing by the dogs, therefore, that “bad” energy was passed on to Jewels. A dog can feel what you feel. Fear, anxiety, nervousness are all weak energy in the dog world. A dog will react poorly if exposed to it.

Should I be the Alpha dog by using brute force?

Absolutely not! The most powerful pack leaders are the ones that say and do the least. The way to gain control over your dog is to use calm relaxed quiet energy. Less is more. Besides, people who think they should “alpha role” their dog usually wind up getting bitten or scratched, or worse hurt their dog physically. There are much better ways to be your dog’s “Alpha” leader. Respect is what is lacking here. You can gain your dog’s respect by using calm, relaxed energy instead of brute force.

He doesn't like scissors or the sound of the shaving machine, can you help?

One must ALWAYS make dogs face their fears. It's the only way to get past it.

Do you have any maltese or habanese? They can have a mix and can be up to 2 years old.

I have 2 Havanese. Had 12 years. Best little dogs you can get.
