I should of known better

Aug 4, 2022

Up with pain Ive had for over 18 weeks. I waited for this appointment to see Dr. Fine, instead I saw a stand-in I suppose? He was terse, rude and in a hurry and told me “go to the hospital if you’re in pain.” Had no answers for my pain, THIS insulting consult could have been a phone call 17 1/2 weeks ago. I could of been on my way to pain relief! Yet another blatant in your face lack of empathy or compassion was when I will was TOLD by the exit desk clerk “ I won’t even make this phone call until Friday” it was Monday! for her to even bother to pick up a phone for the next test or referral. I felt (and that matters) I had no hope for relief and no faith in their ability to WANT to help, listen or show compassion of any kind. I cried on my way home in pain. A complete total waste of MY time (that matters too) that could of been better used seeking actual medical treatment.

For 8 years I struggled with increasing pain in my, neck, shoulders, left arm.. Physical Therapy, Pain Meds, Bikram Yoga-most helpful and Chiropractors-short term relief helped. The pain became increasingly worse and I wasn’t able to sleep or function at all. My primary care physician arranged for me to get an MRI. A friend called medical professions in the area and Dr. Andrew Fine's name was a constant-The Best, for my issue. I found Dr. Fine to be caring, compassionate, empathetic. Surgery was scheduled. I have anxiety and on the day of my surgery Dr. Fine took the time to reassure me. 2 weeks later I was mostly pain free and my life changed for the better. I highly recommend Dr. Fine. I'm grateful that I was fortunate to have Dr Fine as a surgeon. Note: Dr Fine is highly sought after, for good reason. My impression is that he deeply cares for all that he can help. Tim Weller

Dr. fine appears to have a very good reputation. The word is "appears". I recommend you Stay Away. unless you want to be treated unprofessionally with a nasty statement of callous disregard . My experience in the few times I have dealt with him has been very troubling. (I am the owner of a business and frankly I would rather do anything but write this letter. But, enough is enough and the mans bad behavior needs to discussed out in the open. ) Let me explain specifically my experience- Dr. Fine cancelled my last 3 appointments ( not an exaggeration ) by stating he was +too busy to see me+ and could I reschedule? The average date for the rescheule was 2 !/2 months down the line! You would think he would try to get you in sooner....but you don't know he "operates"...yet.. Have you ever heard of a doctor cancelling 3 appointments because he was too busy?? Not me. My Father was Chief Of Surgery at Sinai Hospital in Balto, Md and also taught surgery at Johns Hopkins. I heard the stories about pompous bad doctors but I have never in my 64 years , personally experienced that kind of behavior...until now. Let's get to the real reason for the review.... Today, Monday, 3/28.22, I had a 3:45 pm appointment. This is the appoitment that was rescheduled after Dr. Fine cancelled 3 previous appointments. The original appointment was 6 months ago. I showed up at 3:35 and they handed me 6 pges to fill out. They took my blood pressure ( 75/115 ...Very Good ") and as I waited I heard this conversation ( right outside the door ) Dr. Fine: "Thats my 3;35 appointment??....Reschedule it.He is late. Send in my 4 pm appointment" Assistant : Are you sure Dr. Fine ?? Dr. Fine: Yes, send in the 4 pm appointment " I iliterally thought my head would explode. Would would Will Smith do? ...just kidding So lets ,recap. I showed up 10 minutes early.I filled out some paperwork and Dr Fines assistant took my blood pressure. It was 3:56 pm and This Good Doctor decides 11 minutes gets him behind his schedule, so just cancel me and send in the 4pm. Talk about Cancel Culture. Thats a disregard for my time and its Shocking to hear a Doctor say it out loud. He may as well have said. "This guy is unimportant. I dont care about him. Get him out of my office" . Its unprofessional and makes Dr. Fine seem Untrustworthy and Unpredictable. I can not imagine how his lack of empathy would translate, if I were his surgical patient. All surgeries result in pain and require rehab and feedback from the Doctor. Again, I would definitely worry about that. I am writing this for one reason. I suggest you find a good doctor. Beware Doctors that treat patients as unimportant throw aways. I

After being seen by 2 other practices first, I am so glad I found Dr. Fine. He explains every step and my outcome was fantastic. Wouldn’t look any further if I were you. Good luck.
