Oh my Lord. How sad. My sympathies. Idk about shock treatment but I know multiple people there that have been severely abused. My brother is one of them. They broke him down so bad that he feels hopeless. The therapy they offer their is a joke. This isn't the first suicide story I have read in regards to Patton.

No this is a forensic mental health hospital. You can go to behavior health at Arrowhead hospital. Only people who have been sent by a judge can go to Patton. You have to have been accused of a crime and either been found guilty but Not guilty by reason of insanity or mental defect or been found unable to stand trial.

The courthouse where she was sentenced should have that information available... In fact, the court should have sent out an information package to the next of kin/he mailing address with information on visitation.. That is how I got information regarding my brother.. Inmates/patients there are assigned a counselor/point of contact... I hope this helps and good luck to you both!!

The Department of State hospitals has a website where all information about visitation, depositing money, and other information is available. Specifically that website can tell you how to use your credit card online to put money on the books of any of the patients there provided you have their patient information.

Patton patients are asked whether they want their family notified of their arrival. If they don't give written authorization, staff are not allowed to confirm, just like at a regular hospital, because of HIPAA. you can send a letter to her there, it'll be delivered if she's there, but USPS won't confirm its delivery. The employees there are tools on a salary, doing who-knows-what where no one can see them and hold them accountable... Don't expect much from them.... If you have someone there, like I do, it's clear they were sentenced(sent) there by a court/judge. Patton state state sent our family a package about visitation... You have to basically submit an application to visit. As for legal issues start by reaching out to the prosecutor (District attorney's office) then the "councel" defending (public defender?) the "patient" or vice versa.. Hope this helps.

My brother is a "patient" there and he told me t he majority of the young foreign "mental health" staff on student visas use this facility as a training facility and learn how to treat patients in a state of the art and unethical manner...
