These people picked me up in the nick of time and saved me from a homeless situation (a VOA program was ending). Since then, they have never stopped impressing me.

Got there as they were closing but the lady still took the time to ask me what I was looking for . She really didn't have to do that so that was very nice. She said they didn't have the service I needed but took the time to get me an information pamphlet and wrote down a couple of numbers for me to contact. Great service .

Call them they are there when you need them

Like prison. They are harder on you if your not black. Threaten to kick you out more. Rude. Also don’t seem very nice to multiracial families. Call the dorm the ghetto dorm and treat us like children. Ann dictates like Stalin. Others call her hitler. We’re already down. Not everyone that works here is mean.

First , apply for a shelter then use the resources that most shelters provide. It's kinda like a process that starts with a shelter. Make sure to sign up for section 8 and check your status often, even if the list is closed check it every day. Call 211 also and ask for help with housing.
Call Saint John's and get added to waiting program if you have kids they will let you stay in the respite program
Don't COME here ..there are Rats on the property, you'll get food poisoning ..I think sometimes they serve spoiled food. My son had to use the bathroom, ALL were locked of Course 🙄 & when he asked the staff member to open one of the bathrooms she told him to pee in the bushes . The Same staff member called my STUPID right in front of me & everyone else in the hall way. They DENY him toiletries say they don't Have None when I see a WHOLE Storage closet Full of toiletries ...it got Soo Bad he came back very upset & crying & he said to me there a were group of girls at his school that were make my FUN of him because he had body odor. The ONLY ONES who Really treat people there with any human Kindness at ALL are Isabel , Mrs Carolyn, Javier , & Ms Abigail. Everyone Else will treat you like you're shelter trash .
If you can get on a medicaid income then you can start applying for the low income housing. It took 2 years and keeping in touch (calling each one when the cell number got changed) but finally got a NICE place for $350 month - gotta start somewhere !
Are you renting downtown?
Its a family shelter your either there till u find a place or in some people case they find a reason to 86 u and your family .....but they wont put u out if u do what your suppose to do ....work the program .....go to the classes make sure kids are in school do your chores and make curfew be in your room at a certain time and have your kids in bed at a certain time but mainly u have to go to there housing/job traing classes they are manditory if u dont have a job already ....breakfast lunch dinner provided no outside food allowed on there premises and everything is time management there do it on time and get it done so thehy dont say nothing oh and only your family can be in. Your room and no visitors they have to meet u off the premises. rapid rehousing referral to other shelters ..but you mainly find a place on your own..i lived there last year with my oldest two kids and pregnant with my baby boy ...which is one requirement to be there U HAVE TO HAVE A MINOR CHILD IN YOUR CARE ...
Also, go to the DHA website to register for the emergency family shelter.
You may just have to go there
