After making a reservation in March and paying extra for a bay window, I have a room facing the alley with plenty of construction noise. Shame on me for not seeing that only 'some' of the windows face Newbury St. Shame on the NGH for not making it clearer. It's my birthday and this is incredibly disappointing and unacceptable. Never to return or recommend. My vehicle also was damaged when it was moved. The hotel denies the damage but can't send me pictures of when I left, only when I arrived when there was clearly no damage.

We were in town for a graduation. We'd never stayed at the Guest House before, but it's an instant favorite. Everything about it was great: location, comfort, cleanliness, staff. We reserved parking in advance (highly recommend), which is available at a fair and reasonable rate just behind the building. Although it's located right in a busy part of Newbury Street, and our 2nd floor room overlooked Newbury Street, it was quiet, especially in the evening hours. There are more restaurants that you can count within walking distance, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For those who get up early, fresh coffee is available in the lobby. Overall, highly recommended.

Definition of terrible customer service: the room (406) had been smoked in. Didn’t notice it when first dropping our bags off, but very evident through the night and am. Hotel full so didn’t get change of room. In checking out I told the front desk and he said “yes last week a woman said that it smelled like smoke in 306…but we’re a non-smoking hotel so it shouldn’t smell like smoke.” That’s it, nothing to offer, no apology. Lousy experience tells us not to ever stay again
