I would not recommend McPike ATC to those serious about receiving a sufficient and well rounded education in full recovery. Daily education and rehabilitation was extremely regimented however, patients were initially not given the tools to accomplish this - i.e. allowed an alarm clock to wake up at the sufficient times of early morning activities, an outlet for physical activity such as a gym or rudimentary exercise equipment, or given an initial "formal" orientation. If one didn't have an extreme sense of self-advocacy and awareness it was easy to get lost in the system. Further, although a "dual diagnosis" facility, McPike ATC still does not practice the widely accepted Dialectical Behavioral Therapy model of treatment and skills coaching. Moreover, it consist of a large variety of group meetings based on videos with an extreme focus on smoking and tobacco cessation. Focusing on such specifics and extremes undermines "group therapy" and ignores the critical "cultural concept of distress" outlined in the DSM 5 and multicultural influences on anxiety, stress and general co-morbidity that patients may be facing. The McPike ATC Addiction Center does not have the facility or ability to provide the level of individualized treatment required for those suffering from mental illness and addiction in my opinion. I witnessed individuals smoking in the bathrooms, having sex with those in the female and male ward, and "escaping," from the complex and then returning again. In short, I feel that this is not a serious establishment for recovery and rehabilitation. There are many other facilities in Upstate New York that could offer a more meaningful experience for those in or seeking recovery.

When can I visit
can you get calls
Bring enough clothes for about 2 weeks, washer and dryer are provided. They also provide you with shampoo and conditioner, razors tooth brush tooth paste deodorant aloe ect. If you do bring shampoo or such it much be in a clear bottle. Cosmetics can’t have mirrors. You’ll deal. No false eye lash glue, or nail polish... you’re not goin to a party. You can bring the type of hair straightener tht prisons allow, can’t remember the type. No perfume. Bring coconut oil, works well. They give u shower shoes, so bring a pair of sandals n don’t be that person who wears their shower shoes around.
Yes. Most people piss hot when going there
2 ten minute phone calls a week
No
Methadone clinic has been added to back side of building which has taken the space of the pingpong table and pool table etc.. Blessing to have it here. We needed this years ago.. We also need the pingpong table back with a large area to play.
do you take walk ins
They only do family visits
You have to call to see bed availability
Conifer park and cornerstone, or your local emergency
They can’t say if a person is there or not, unless said person has you down that they will be taking phone calls from you. Call the number provided, get in contact with the nurses station. If said person isn’t available at the moment you may leave a message if allowed, or they will be notified and call you when they have free time. Writing letters is a big thing while away at rehab.
No visitors only calls if your on their list
Each group is about 45 min long. You have 3 groups in the morning starting at 8:30 2 groups after lunch starting at 1:45 (this group is about an hour and a half for Primary Group) and lastly 2 groups after dinner starting at 6:30
