My mother as a child was raised at this property between 1920s-30s. While living at Wiley Hall 2009. In 2010 she fell backwards hurting her spine and moved to the main Hospital building. The day staff were excellent. The nite crew were Not So Good. Over time Jewelry and other personal property went missing. I had meetings with Executive Staff with complaints. Head of Nursing assured me she understood my concerns. When I returned 2-3 months later, I didn't recognize my mom. Obviously they had no clue to my concerns. Head of nursing with my initial complaint, admitted she hadn't seen my mother At All. I was told she'd be moved. Shortly after, someone dressed Mom, & left her alone sitting on the bed, being put n Harms way. They knew she had a balance problem. My mom fell flat on her face, broke her nose. She was never the same and died about 6 months later. My Father was a Mason, and my mom was head of the Eastern Star in NYC. My family believed she'd be taken care of properly. We saw many night time abuses by staff ignoring buzzers, while Texting & playing video games. Family's need to drop by periodically in the evenings unexpectedly every so often. I worked as a young adult, when everyone actually felt a kindred to the residence. That's no longer the case.

While my Dad was a patient for a very short time, many times I witnessed his caregivers treat him with kindness, respect, compassion and a gentleness that went above and beyond their job descriptions. His comfort and well-being were the caregivers' top priority when attending to my Dad's needs, even when he was having a bad day/moment and letting everyone know about it. I highly recommend Masonic Care when choosing care for your loved one.

Been here to bring cookies to the residents but most of them were very rude and some were pretty creepy as well.

Do you offer independent living apartments? If so what would be the monthly cost?

Gary Adams | Sep 13, 2019
Masonic Care Community of New York | Sep 13, 2019

Yes, and the cost varies as the the size of the apartment. Our one bedroom apartments start at just over $2,000 for one person. We have a variety of sizes up to the largest apartments which as two bedrooms, with a den. All apartments have full kitchens and bathrooms. In our building b, all apartments have two bathrooms one with a tub and shower, the other with a walk in shower. Some apartments have balconies with beautiful views. Acacia Village is a straight rental, no large downpayment. Evening meals are included. There is an indoor pool that is used year round, hot tub and sauna. We are in the process of updating our community center to add new amenities, and we will be building cottages for individuals who would like that living option.
