If you arrive late you will have to walk a bit for parking, there are stairs, unless you walk down the road. No signal whatsoever. Concession stand does accept card, please be aware it is dial up and does take a moment. Definitely a place to check out!

I cane here twice, once in July and the other in August 2022. Came here from the Bronx. I had previously gone to Little Pond as it was closer to the city but there is a german lady there that treats the park guests very rudely. She threatened to ban us for simply having set up camp in a way she did not like and berated me on my last day. Contrast to that experience, the next weekend I visited Gilbert lake and the staff couldn't be any more caring and understanding. On our last day at the camp there was heavy rains. We tried to wait for the rain to pass but before we knew it it was 11 am. Two park staff members came by on a golf cart and asked us if we wanted to stay another night, which we thought was very nice considering that at little pond we were asked to leave at 8:50 am. We came back again in August and Rebecca was extremely accommodating making sure that our group's two camp sites were as close as possible. Rebecca truly is the baddest girl in the camp for being so helpful to us!! Will definitely come back here again in the future, it is worth the extra time for the drive.

I don't believe kayaks need to be registered.
Pretty sure the ponds were stocked differently.
Most sites, which offer large driveways and a minimum of 30 amps, can be found in sites 1-57. There are fewer sites in Deer Run, but there are trailer sites with hookups. I generally look at satellite photos of the campground and pick what I'm looking for...shade, sun, privacy, etc., and then compare to what is available during the time frame I anticipate visiting. The state parks also always maintain several non-reserveable sites for campers making last-minute decisions. In conclusion, I think the more private sites, with more shade, will be found in Deer Run. The newer sites have more sun and less privacy. Depends on what you want and what's available. Good luck!
Yes, I see drones all of the time there
Must indeed have paperwork from vet for dogs...they may not ask for it, but it's best to have it in the glove compartment. I believe the park opens Memorial Day weekend.
Yes. Most of the time the road around the lake perimeter is passable. AWD or 4WD recommend after bigger snowfalls.
No the ticketbooth concession and swimming all close on labor day for the season.
I think they have a small area where dogs can swim.
You would have to call the office and ask

I don't believe so. They have sites with electric, but water is usually shared. They have composting toilets.
Unfortunately not. The state campgrounds do not typically allow any motorized atvs besides their own. Only recreational things such as bikes and whatnot are allowed.
Not a truck but there is a general store where you can buy dog treats, smores packages, camp chairs and most importantly COFFEE
Showers are in deer run and hilltop camping loops
Yes, the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) museum. Located near the beach/concession stand area. Small, but interesting and included with the park entrance fee.
