A wonderful campground with beautiful waterfront sites. Excellent "extras" like boat rentals and evening ice cream trailer that made the experience memorable. Boat rental is cash only!

A nice and quiet campground on a beautiful lake. One of my favorite places. They have canoe and kayak rentals at the boat launch. An ice truck comes through in the morning and an ice cream trailer in the evening. (Bring cash) There used to be a wood truck too but it was missing last time I went. For everything else the trading post is only a mile down the road from the entrance.

Do your research and show up with the right expectations. The water is delightful, and the paddling is superb. But the campsites are densely packed next to each other, so there's not much privacy. And I can't imagine getting a site across the road from the lake. Why bother?

Great campground! Our first trip up to this area in ADK. Visited the week before Labor Day and arrived on a Monday, after some nice spots opened up. I can see how waterfront sites book up early, the view is amazing! The ice and firewood trucks that drive through the campground is awesome — you never have to leave!! Such a pleasure to launch your boat at your site. Water was warm and a pleasure to paddle on. Need to do some more research on loops we can paddle there. Had no idea how connected all small ponds are in the area. Will definitely be back.

There is a public boat ramp and parking lot near the campground entrance. Or ask permission from someone on a shore site. The area around site 98 is a bit steeper.
Haven't seen any poison ivy there ever.
Yes. There is a limit as to how much equipment you can have per site, but a utility trailer should be fine.
No wifi at any of the state campgrounds. And cell phone coverage is spotty at Rollins, depending on the site you are in.
There is a cigar shop in Placid but no lounge that I know of.
You'll need to find a private campground not a state park unfortunately
