LAGPR handles hundreds of rescues at any given time from what it looks like to me. Saskia does research and has firsthand knowledge going back decades she shares her knowledge freely. I appreciate this group so much! I also love the Wheekers group which was started by Saskia, it's a great place to join in conversations among a knowledgeable, respectful Guinea Pig community.

Yes you can. We ask that people come in person to adopt though, we do not ship the piggies. Start by filling out the adoption application on the website. www.laguineapigrescue.com
Yes they do!
Yes 35.00. Go to the website and make an appointment. They will try different ones according to which ones you like. One at a time of course. You will love the experience and spending time there. They have supplies too and also schedule a health check up with Saskia, she will give a drop of ivervectin as a preventative on each ear of your male pigs, trim their nails, and do a boar cleaning. She's the best and I have been going there with mine for some time now. I love it there.Fyi there's horses and other animals too!
We do not recommend it. Guinea pig seldom get fleas and or ticks. They are however prone to get lice and mange mites. This is that we use as a preventative. PREVENTATIVE You want to repeat Ivermectin treatments every 3 months or so. It prevents lice, mites and internal parasites. Even if you guinea pigs are not in touch with others they can still get these parasites. They lie dormant and will activate when the animal is under the weather, aging or under stress. You can either put a drop on the ear of the injectable Ivermectin (though you don’t inject it just a pea sized drop on the outer skin of the ear) This is a great method if you have a lot of animals IVERMECTIN PASTE https://amzn.to/2NReUuq TREATMENT Day one, pea sized amount in the mouth Day 4 pea size amount in the mouth and from there repeat once a week for 3 weeks. IVERMECTIN https://amzn.to/2NUkRXc TREATMENT Day one, drop on the ear. Day 4 drop on the ear and from there once a week for 3 weeks.
They are now doing Guinea pig boarding
I think someone wants one, let me ask him and I'll let you know, thank you so beautiful the guinea pigs.
Yes they do. They clean their teeth too! They're amazing.
They are not a vet i don't think they neuter. I remember them having to take a boy to the vet to get it done.
Sometimes they have young ones do you can adopt them. Indeed
Yes we are open!
At the guinea pig rescue , their mission is to get the piggies adopted and they do have baby piggies as well but you do have to pay for them to be nutured and some piggies are already fixed and as for them being tamed , they all friendly and shy animals which makes them easy to handle but they need a lot of care .
I'm a volunteer and we are volunteer run so if you make an appointment there's a better chance you will have a more positive experience because appointments are allocated. But it is true we will never turn anyone away especially if they just want information.
If you go to their website, you can make an appointment and see what days are available! You need an appointment if you want to see Saskia:)
Yes it is generally dangerous to keep rabbits and bunnies together because they have a different posture rabbits stand up higher and their legs could easily kick the guinea pig. In general they also have different temperaments and if you really care about them you would keep them with their own species where they would feel more comfortable. Guinea pigs are herd animals and rabbits and guinea pigs are very intelligent
I don't believe they do treatments. A proper veterinarian would be your best bet.
They going to your local vet or Petsmart or Petco. They will charge about 10.00 or less to do it for you.If your little one has white nails it is much easier to see where to cut. Just stay away from the dark area at the back the nail.
I’m looking for a place to leave them at I can’t take care of them anymore
Yes you would have to bring you guinea pig as we will have to do some introductions. The adoption fee for a single guinea pig is $35 Start here on the website https://www.laguineapigrescue.com/adoption.html
Are they frozen? If you just got your guinea pig, google videos of what it looks like when a guinea pig freezes. Freezing is normal and natural. They just do it when they are scared. If you know what freezing looks like and that isn't it, you should take it to the vet.
Firts one I got it from Petsmart. Second one from LA Guinea Pig Rescue.

No fee but a donation is greatly appreciated since it is a rescue and needs money to continue with what they do.
No I am so sorry but we do not take in rabbits
Look up the LA guinea pig rescue on Facebook and YouTube. Saskia knows everything there is to know about helping guinea pigs.
You need to contact them!
I wouldnt recommend pine shavings for guineas if they have sensitive respiratory system instead try Aspen
Unless your guinea pig is very dirty or greasy, bathing should happen very rarely. I recommend watching all the videos Saskia from LAGPR has uploaded to YouTube?
Call them. They are so nice. They were able to accommodate me. I don't think you need an appointment to pick up a cage. See if the item you want is for sale on the website and you can select a time to pick it up. If you don't see the item you want, call them and they'll tell you if they have it.
I recently adopted a guinea pig from there, I would highly recommend watching their videos on their website and on YouTube to help you figure it out. It is a lot more work for the parent with a child that age. This is coming from working in a vet hospital as well.
All appointments are only available on: Mondays & Fridays 9:00am- 1:00pm Saturdays 9:00am - 4:30pm They are CLOSED Sundays and Major Holidays
You make an appointment for surrenders and they will take them yes
There is a donation of 30 per piggy I believe. There website has the prices.
You need to spend least 30 min a day with your gp and give snacks such has lettuce and bell peppers tomatoes and talk and pet has you are giving them snacks
Absolutely, just make sure you use a carrier with enough room for them and provide them with veggies. Make sure they don't get excessively hot
Go to the Los Angles guinea pig rescue website, it should be there if not scroll to where it says contact us and ask Saskia.
Dont forget to donate
I was there just yesterday. Definitely open. :)
We offer Ivermectin treatment for mites lice and internal parasites. It is free and we offer the treatment at the rescue.
Street and lot parking. The parking lot though is really just the owners driveway and isnt always accessible as the farm and rescue workers get the driveway spots early in the morning, as they deserve.
Putting Vitamin c in their water is not recommended. It changes the flavor if the water, then will cause your Guinea pig not to drink. Secondly if you have more than 1 Guinea pig, you cant control of amt of dosage they are drinking from the water. Recommended to syringe feed them 1ml of children's liquid. You should watch Scottys Animal You tube channel. Talks about importance of Vitamin C. https://youtu.be/7KTl08JDyas. How this helps.
You can make an appointment on their website for an adoption.
Email them. Also dont forget to donate
Email the los Angeles Guinea rescue And make appointment. Dont forget to donate
They adopt them out for a donation
Sneezing is a sign have a respiratory illness and can only be treated with antibiotics. Guinea pig should not be sneezing luckily antibiotics will solve the problem you should move them into an area where it is room temperature. Guinea pigs do not do well in the cold however extreme heat is way worse
Send them an email
They don't ship animals. Go to your closest local animal shelter or Google a small animal rescue in your state or check craigslist or petfinder.com for adoptable pets in your area. Facebook group has a lot of guinea pigs looking for homes thehappycavy and Guinea pig page (for sale, Advice, & Support). Find them on facebook and send a join group request. Lots of guinea pigs in your area from homes that can not keep them any more as well as beeeders. But the ones from homes are sometimes bonded and come in a set of 2, which is recomended since guiena pigs live in groups and it's best to at least have 2. They are considered exotic pets, so vet visits are expensive, please be sure you are able to afford them as they need regular feed of fruits and vegitables and 80 percent of their diet is hay. Hay is a dry grass, be sure you're not allergic to guinea pigs or grass before getting one. I am allergic to cats, but I am not allergic to short hair animals like dogs and short hair guinea pigs.
No
Adopting 2 is the same donation as adopting 1. Sex is not a price factor. It's 30-40 for fluffy piggies. More for "skinny"/hairless piggies.
You can look around, visit the rescue and get to the know the piggies. Beware though if you fall in love with a piggie and wait to come back another week to adopt they don't put guinea pigs on "hold". And they only adopt out two pigs or one to pair up with a single pig. Be sure to visit when you are ready to adopt!
10 dollars? There's many different sizes that you can get online but we have also many different sizes at the rescue available for purchase
When you come back you can drop them off, they sure will appreciate it
You can expect a waiting list of over a month but yes they will take your guinea pig but you must go to their website and fill out a surrender form
Hello, I was wondering how long is the waiting list.
We offer free health checks which includes butt cleaning. Every 8 weeks is a good schedule our health checks are free for any Guinea pigs regardless of where they came from. Make an appointment on our website
LAGPR Always does free nail trims and health checks for ALL Guinea pigs.
You must make an appointment online for surrender.
They are not taking any right now, they recently rescued 700 from a hoarding situation.
Depends on what you are looking for. Neutered males are a little more and the regular adoption is around $35. Not cheap, but you get a healthy piggy and all of their knowledge and experience!
