It used to be better… The bathroom area is the sauna, you’re welcome. The drains are clogged. There’s absolutely NO AC. (They got fans that helps but still not enough). The SPA is always Off for some reason. The pool isn’t warm most of the time. I feel bad for the the staff working with such poor infrastructure, they try their best to be helpful but clearly good intentions won’t renew the gym. Get a cheaper membership anywhere’s or a REALLY good at Life time but don’t join LA, just getting worst and worst. Save your money!

MESSAGE FROM LA FITNESS, STONEHAM: To our Members & Community: My name is Craig, and I am the new Marketing & PR Director for LA Fitness in Stoneham, Massachusetts. First and foremost, I appreciate everyone taking the time to share their feedback and concerns, even if they do not reflect us well. Furthermore, we apologize for any visit that fell anything short of exceptional. A sorry isn’t enough, however. We want to provide solutions, and here is what we are doing to resolve some of the issues that may have affected you recently. • CARDIO EQUIPMENT: Cardio equipment typically sees the most traffic in our club. We recognize this and have since replaced most of our treadmill fleet with state-of-the-art new treadmills. We are aware of the other inoperable cardio machines and have scheduled them for service as soon as the replacement parts arrive. • MACHINE UPHOLSTERY: For years now, much of the upholstery and machine padding has been severely torn, worn down, or held together by duct tape. We determined that it was 100 percent necessary to re-upholster every machine in our fleet. Upholstery in this condition was unacceptable. Our members and guests deserve MUCH better. Many of you spend a great deal of time in our facility. It is almost a second home to many of our members - all on a mission to live a healthy lifestyle, and I know how important that is to each and every one of you. We hope that the issues addressed above offer some reassurance and warrant a second chance with us. Going further, we want to be more transparent with our members. There are some operational hurdles we are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Primarily supply chain and staffing issues that we are working diligently to resolve. We can do better, and we will. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we proactively work to ensure an exceptional fitness experience.

Been a member for the past 4 years, love coming here every visit, the only thing I haven’t done, is any of their classes, although they do seem very good! also I don’t see why people leave bad reviews for this club, especially some grumpy old man Mike Jones, it’s kind of weird how he attacks this place just because the club doesn’t meet his standards, as far as I know, if you are a LA Fitness member, you can cancel whenever you want, don’t understand how he hasn’t thought about that one yet If you are looking for a gym, LA Fitness in Stoneham is the best! Would definitely recommend anyone to come check it out!

30% of the equipment is flat out broken. another 20% is almost broken and dangerous to use. every free bench has holes/tape on it. all equipment out of date and screechy/shakey. they really need to buy pretty much all new equipment. see the pictures i attached and you’ll see what i mean. i’m only here because of the 7 day guest pass. i would never pay for a membership here. it’s also been pretty crowded every time i’ve been at around 6pm. not much good to say other than the basketball court and a friend told me they offer decent classes. i basically agree with JS Connors review a few down from mine. he said the second star is “because it is technically a gym with running water” lol. yeah that’s pretty much why i gave 2 stars. he also mentions the constantly broken equipment. time for management to put some $ into this place! UPDATE: management reached out to me a few days after posting this review and we had a good chat. mike said he appreciates honest feedback and extended my guest pass which is convenient. it sounds like they are doing what they can to update equipment and the phone call alone shows they care.

No. There is a pool and lots of cardio, though, so you need a different excuse to skip your workout.
They have some classes for the pool too. I haven't taken them, but I have seen older folks participating. I believe they have handicapped access to get into the pool as well.

It depends on the plan you get. They will try to sell you the most expensive option. If you have a friend who is a member, you should get a 2- week guest pass that they register in the computer. After two weeks, don't go for a week or two and you should get a promotional email with a good price: $24.99/month, no initiation fee. Most importantly they should register your 2-week guest pass in the computer. They will try to give you a 3-day pass with no registration, and/or sign you up as soon as possible but you should wait. I hope this still works.
