March 2019 I started our new home. I wanted radiant floor heat in the concrete floors and requested a design layout and quote from Radiantech. Don Vance provided all the layout information and estimates. I purchased all the required material and received it when promised. I had quite a few questions through the installation process and Radiantech answered them all. It did take me several months to install as I did it all myself with covid related concrete delays. It is a fairly complex system that heats my hot water as well as heating the floors in home and garage. If you are not good at soldering with a good mechanical background then hire a knowledgeable and experienced contractor to perform the work required. This is our third winter in Ohio and we love the heated floors. Currently designing my daughters new home and it will have the same system.

I would not recommend Radiantec for your radiant floor needs. They design the way they want not how it has been designed. They do not give a floor plan if you use rafters. They tell you to count them out and divide up what you have for tabbing. You call for support and they talk you in circles and leave you hanging. Again they leave you hanging. Well they can help but there a people ahead of you and you will have to wait for an manifold corrections. I was just surprised by all of this. They say they are here to help with all your questions. They are not. They get your money and now it on you! Again I do not recommend Radiantec!

Great until there was a major issue.. only took 14 months for our system to stop working. I reached out to this company for a specific type of heating system which they specialize in. They sent me a list of the parts they sell to support this system, including an on demand hot water heater to heat the system. I had not heard of using an on demand hot water heater prior to this, but was assured by Don Vance at Radientec that this was a viable and well supported way to go. Went ahead and took their recommendation. After getting the system installed, there was an issue with the on demand hot water heater. I reached out to the manufacturer to learn that this heater is not warrantied to be used in this way. The 15 year warranty is null and void because Radientec sold me something they should not have without mention. I reached out to Radientec with this information and looking to get a path to resolution and after a call where Don Vance told me "oh, we only just learned the warranty thing.. and I will see what I can do", I was told they will not help. Buyers beware Actual communication from Don Vance: "Good afternoon Phil I spoke to my supervisor about your problem and unfortunately he feels we did not misrepresent the heater with the information we had from the manufacturer at that time. To our knowledge there was no issues with the warranty when used in a closed system, and I told you earlier found that out well after the manufacturer decided to change the policy. We recommend contacting American and speak with a senior tech or supervisor to help with your heater. We do not have any contacts with American any longer so we cannot help with that. Don Vance"

I was very disappointed in the installation process. It is sold as a do it yourself project. There are numerous solder joints required and knowledge of how to layout the board. Installation is not for the average or even above average homeowner. The instructions are confusing because they do not list all of the parts required and sold to me. I took the advice on design from my technical support person and was oversold products that I did not need. I was told that they were on the quote and I should have known. I asked if I could return the unused products and was told to sell them myself.

I do not know that area, but I am confident a good HVAC company that knows radiant heat would know how to handle the Radiantec system. You will be glad you got it fixed once you feel that warm floor!
Hi Mr. Shapero, what heater are you using? The best thing to do is to either call your local service company or to call the manufacturer directly for help troubleshooting the problem.
