No regards for the small exotic animals in their care. Berates VOLUNTEERS for caring PROPERLY for the animals in their care and then bans them from volunteering again. Oif only they read maybe ONE article online that states the proper care for rabbits, regardless if in a home environment or shelter environment. Bunnies should be not be kept in a hot room, limited enrichment, limited SPACE, and unclean living environment but thats exactly what this company does and think it's appropriate. This place does NOT value pets and does not put them first. Solely in it for the profit. And next time please tell your workers not to bash the animals in their care "I could care less about bunnies and guinea pigs" should not come out of someone's mouth who is supposed to be caring for them. Will be promoting this review on countless other platforms to hopefully educate the people looking to the buisness as a resource and instead can go somewhere where the animals are kept safe and are cared for.

The staff here are super friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable. The staff can seem rude to some people (especially undergraduates) but they really care for the animals and want the best for them. This place is open by appt only for dogs the last time I visited. People can stop by anytime to see the cats and rabbits. There is this one senior cat (Ira) there that is the sweetest boy and looks young for his tender age (11yrs old). I would love to see him adopted ❤

I’ve gotten 4 cats here total. Two a few months ago, and the other two around four years ago. Every time I’ve gone it’s always been a positive experience. The shelter is always clean, and l the animals always food & water. The workers are always so helpful and informative on any type of questions or concerns you could think of. This will always be my go to place to adopt from. Even if you’re not ready to adopt an animal, it’s a good place to buy their yearly Subaru raffle tickets which also helps out the shelter! Great overall.

Vouchers can be purchased at the shelter during our open hours, or online anytime! More information is online at www.petscomefirst.net/voucher. Thanks!
The best thing to do is call around and get on waiting lists for intake of cats. All shelters are overrun by the need for cat surrenders year round. They unfortunately do not have the space to take them all in and warehouse them until homes are available.
Male neuter is $60 and female spay is $70. You can find more information about purchasing vouchers on our website at http://petscomefirst.net/voucher/. Thanks!
No. They are a no kill shelter. I have adopted several animals from them over the years, with one of them being there for over 2 years before we added him to our family. They do great things!
I didn't see any.
Hello, we are an animal shelter and not a vet care provider. We recommend that you contact a local vet office, or the Animal Welfare Council who offers some vet care at a reduced rate. Thanks!
They are a no kill shelter, not a veterinary office
Please give us a call at 814-364-1725 to discuss and review some options. Thanks!
PCF is a shelter. Adoption fees are typically $200 for dogs, depending on the vet care required. You can see our adoptable animals online at www.petscomefirst.net. Thanks!
Hello! You will need to complete an Adoption Application when you come into the shelter to meet the animals. We will then need time to process the Application - calling references, your vet, and landlord (if needed). Depending on which animal you are interested in, they may still need to get the rest of their vet care completed prior to Adoption as well. If you have any additional questions, please call 814-364-1725 during our open hours. Thanks!
It would be better if you called them and asked them or stopped in.
Leave a message at the shelter and they will call you back this afternoon. :)
Sell is a bad word to use here. You do adopt dogs from here though.
Groups of volunteers are welcome. You can call and leave a message for the volunteer coordinator to get back to you about scheduling. There are many opportunities, but what is most needed is help with cleaning and janitorial work. There is also the Luvn a Pittie group (you can check them out on Facebook). There are also events that need volunteers. It all depends on the skill set and availability of the volunteers. It would be best to call and talk directly to shelter staff to determine the best time and way to volunteer. Just call and leave a message and they will get back to you.
