The heavyset lady working at the front desk is extremely dismissive. We dropped a shirt off that needed a very simple alteration, a straight 4 inch stitch. When we dropped it off an older, and very kind woman took care of us. She said she wasn't positive what the price would be, but said she was sure it was cheap for a quick and simple job. The rude lady was working today when we picked up the shirt. It was $12, $3 an inch! Alterations by Anna's Daughter in Bedford did 3 far more complicated repairs for us, all for only $15. When we inquired why the price was so high she blamed her coworkers for not pricing our garment at intake. She then went on to very condescendingly tell us that someone had to come in and spend time on our alteration and they needed to pay her. Such a simple job could not have taken more than 5 minutes and I sincerely doubt they are paying $144 an hour. This is not the first time we have had a poor experience with this woman. From the other reviews here, it is apparent that this lady is a serial offender. The alteration was done well and the other workers are very kind. However we cannot bear to deal with the this bad-mannered woman again and we will be looking elsewhere for our alterations and dry cleaning services. We suggest you do too.

Amy was so helpful! I needed measurements for a dress, and she fit me right in. No appointment, just come on down. She listened to what I needed and took all the measurements I needed. Quick and easy!

The woman at the desk, possibly a secretary, was very rude and inattentive to us right upon entering the building. We waited about ten minutes in an empty store while she had a personal conversation on her phone. When we were finally graced with her attention, she was still constantly turning away from us to talk on her phone, (which was her personal cell phone, and the subject matter was clearly not business related) speaking to us in a rude tone, speaking in a condescending manner and talking down to us. She ended up informing us that the tailors couldn’t even take care of the alterations that we needed, so we went elsewhere, thankfully. We were shocked at her willingness to just turn customers away because the tailors who worked there “couldn’t do that.” She acted as if tailoring a suit was asking for the impossible. I definitely wouldn’t recommend such an unprofessional place, there are many better tailors around anyways; those who have no problem actually tailoring clothes while treating customers with respect. Edit post owner addition: I am definitely thinking of the place next to Shaw’s. Thanks for your concern. I will not delete my review.
