Unfortunately, we do not feed our birds birdseed at Carolina Raptor Center. They are all carnivorous. Perhaps contact someone at Audubon. Michele

I found an injured owl and have been caring for him until I can get in touch with the proper authorities. Can you come pick him up or do I need to bring him to you? When I found him he had an injured wing and very limited Mobility.

Call the raptor center. They do have volunteers that will come and pick up the owl. I had a similar situation a few years back and was able to visit the owl and be there on the day of his release.

I see in today’s Observer that you are returning a rare(to our area) snowy owl to VT today. Why not let people know about this so we could see the owl ? A great opportunity missed!

Carolina Raptor Center | Sep 10, 2018

The health and rehabilitation of raptors is always our biggest priority. Like a lot of the injured or sick birds that come to Carolina Raptor Center the Snowy Owl was treated at the hospital and only kept on our secluded rehab trail. The birds that live at CRC on the public trail for guests are our raptor ambassadors and permanent residents because they can't be released either because of injury or imprinting. The Snowy was never on the public trail and was secluded even from non-essential staff. We were very worried about the bird's recovery as it was malnourished and out of it's native habitat, so a lot of care had to go into it's recovery. This meant keeping the bird as stress free as possible. Trust us we'd love to have a Snowy at CRC for everyone to see but because NC can get so hot outside of winter it's not feasible without harming or distressing the bird. But keep an eye out in the coming year for new and exciting birds at our flight shows and encounters!
